Committee of the Whole Names Its Choice for Regional District

Thursday, December 8, 2011 @ 3:58 AM

Prince George, B.C.- While the  final  word lies with Prince George City Council, the Committee of the Whole has selected Councillors Murry Krause, Cameron Stolz and Dave Wilbur as the people it would like to see sit as Directors  on the Regional District.

The  alternate selected as the ‘fill in" should any of the  elected not be able to  attend a Regional District meeting will be Lyn Hall.

The selection was not easy as all but Councillor Frank Everitt were nominated for a seat on the Board of Directors.  Everitt was selected earlier as the Committee’s choice for an alternate to Mayor Green on the Board of the Northern Development Initiatives Trust.

Councillor Albert Koehler must have known in advance he would be nominated as he was the only  one who  came prepared with a campaign  flyer which he distributed to his fellow Council  members

If Council gives approval to the selection, they will join  Mayor Shari Green  at the Regional District table in January.

Other  appointments to be approved by Council :

Beyond Homelessness:

  • Frank Everitt,
  • Garth Frizzell and
  • Murry Krause

Library Board:

  • Dave Wilbur

Downtown Partnership

  • Mayor Green
  • Albert Koehler
  • Frank Everitt

OBAC:

  • Albert Koehler

Treaty Advisory Committee:

  • Cameron Stolz   ( alternate will be Frank Everitt)

Mayor Green says she  wanted to see how these appointments  turned out so she  could see everyone’s workload before she makes any recommendations on the  appointments to the Finance and Audit committee.  She says she will bring her recommendations forward to Council  on Monday.

There was no mention of Brian Skakun is this his wish or is it a carry over from days gone by? Why I am asking is that Brian got the most votes of all of the council in the recent election.

Actually, Lyn Hall had the most votes of the councillors. Brian, for some reason had the 2nd highest.
