Skakun Says Appeal Will Be Withdrawn
Friday, December 9, 2011 @ 12:51 PM
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George City Councillor Brian Skakun says he expects that an appeal launched with the BC Court of Appeals will be withdrawn.
Court documents list the status of the case as ‘active’. It’s an appeal of the October 13th decision by Mr. Justice Crawford, dismissing Skakun’s application to prevent the City from holding a censure hearing to consider possible sanctions against him for leaking a confidential report to the media.
However, Skakun says the appeal is "a miscommunication between me and my lawyer and I expect that the appeal will be withdrawn."
The appeal had been registered at the court of Appeal in Vancouver on November 14th 2011.

Well, I am glad he will withdraw the appeal but I do not believe his story about miscommunication between him and his lawyer. Hogwash!
Why does everyone blame their lawyers for the crappy positions they find themselves in? Lawyers are easy marks, I guess.
No need to appeal, its obvious nobody cares anyway.
A miscommunication with Jon? Tell me it ain’t so! Absolutely amazing. Mind you, Jenkins or Gilson wouldn’t even have taken this thing to court LOL.
Brian did the right thing . He tried to help someone that there was no other way to go and I applaud his action.
It is just another case where admin at City hall hand all the crap to council to resolve. Why did Bates not resolve the problem but instead it went to a councilor that used his best judgement to find a solution.
Appears there are some people that dont understand that its not OK to shove your employees to the wall and make them eat crap from their superiors.
Cheers
I agree retired. Chambers had to finally eat crow and got booted out of our town. I really feel for Ken and the others that had to take the crap in a real bad situation. It’s unfortunate that whole mess wasn’t made public to begin with.
Yeah, he believed he was above the law and released info that he had no business doing and went against the privacy act.
He would have been fired at any other job for doing so, but for some reason, people think he’s some sort of hero.
The first smart thing he’s done is drop the appeal. He would have lost. Again.
Yeah, he believed he was above the law and released info that he had no business doing and went against the privacy act.
If it was against the law for what he did the judge would of had to give hime some form of puishment. He merily bent the rules.
JohnnyBelt, you must be an employer that dosent have to manny rules on how employees should be respected.
Cheers
He ‘bent the rules’. Nice way of looking at it. I’m sure you would have a different perspective if Brian had released something about you or your family without your permission.
I am an employee, bound by confidentiality rules set out by my employer. There are many ways of dealing with personnel issues internally that I must follow if there’s an issue. If I decide to go to the media, I can expect to be fired and find myself in court, much like Brian did (at least the court part).
Retired02 no he didnt..he broke the law.. his was convicted of a crime.. that makes him a convict.
This law you easily push aside as it fills your need was brought in for a reason. Super Brian got caught.. he wouldnt even admit he did it at first.. he lied to us all about it.. and you say he did a good thing.. he got a fine.. that is punishment.. he also supposedly spent over 40k in lawyers fees to be found guilty of a small fine.. yeah.. what an upstanding guy he is.. a convict that lies.. perfect
“me and my lawyer!” he cannot get that right! On radio he admitted to solicitating funds from the Haldi residents after voting against the rehab centre. No mention if he will be returning any funds he collected. I could be wrong but my lawyer friend suggested that could also be cause for another criminal charge. The most amazing thing to me is the number of votes he received
‘The most amazing thing to me is the number of votes he received ‘
Yes, and this goes to show that whether what he did was right or wrong, the residents of PG (well, the ones who bothered to vote) want him as a councillor.
Brian should be proud of what he did in exposing this issue – City Administration and the RCMP tried to sweep it under the table by pretending there were no issues and he called them on it.
johnnybelt, p val; look at things from a different perspective. Perhaps he learned by
observing your hero, gordo?
I was glad to see Brian manning the kettle for the Salvation Army today at Costco. That says a lot.
Gordo’s ancient history. Who cares.
As for everyone’s hero Mr. Skakun, I would bet if you asked him if he would do it again, even he would say ‘no’.
The Haldi Road solicitation is another blunder which most people don’t seem to care about. The guy is made of teflon, I’ll give him that.
Only the truly delusional think gordo is ancient history. And, if you were half the man Mr. Skakun is, you’d know when to stop adding to the depth of the hole you’re digging.
You a Skakun stalker or something, joeboy? Pretty creepy.
Keep your veiled threats to yourself, buddy.
Brian for mayor!
Skakun stalker?? Veiled threats?? Like I said you are delusional. Seems like you have comprehension problems as well. LMAO.
I don’t think you know what the word delusional means. Look it up.
Because you asked so nicely; here it is from dictionary.com.

having false or unrealistic beliefs or opinions
False belief or opinion #1: gordo is ancient history, #2: Skakun stalker? and #3: veiled threats? Where’s your proof? Question now is: do you comprehend?
I’d hate to think I did all the heavy lifting for you and you might not get it.
Still LMAO.
So have you got anything relevant to say, or are you just here to troll?
Make it quick, I’m losing interest.
Oh, Gordo told me to tell you that he watches you while you sleep.
Silly little fellow. Losing interest but you keep coming back with asinine comments. Who’s the troll?
I’ll sleep well tonite. Thank gordo for me.
So, nothing then? I didn’t think so.
Good night Mr. Dix.
So, we have lowered ourselves to name calling? It’s quite obvious you never had anything semi intelligent to say and you sure aren’t saying anything intelligent now.
Go away garterbelt, or I shall taunt you a second time.
Yeah, that’s about right. Trolling is about all you’re good for.
That’s rich. You calling anyone else a troll. LMAO. Ok you can have the last word. Duty calls. Some of us must work so others can spend their time trolling. See you in two weeks.
Whatever you say.
