I wonder what people would be doing with that type of arsenal? Maybe planning for next years deer hunting trip I suppose . . .

Maybe something to do with organized crime?
But then we wouldn’t expect a lieberal to understand that would we?

Getting ready to set up a grow camp.

Someones getting prepared for the big day!

It all depends in how they classify the guns and the body armor, how they were purchased, how they were stored, who owned them and what their was criminal history. Was it the local native band members, or a lone wolf? I am sure this is only one of many thousands in Canada, so really all we can do now is speculate as to why so much attention to what really amounts to a small private collection.

When the authorities say assault rifles… what are they really talking about, why all the secrecy on what kinds of guns they are talking about? Magazine clip sizes? Before it even becomes a story I think that should be the bare minimum that should be understood and made to be understood to make it a public story. Otherwise its a slippery slope… lots of gun collectors in remote rural areas of Canada.

“an unsecured abandoned private rural property”
The collectors in remote rural areas don’t fit that description. Someone with a legit collection of that size would have moved them when they moved. That is unless the collector is deceased and nobody was looking after the place. Lots of different scenarios .
I agree that the descriptions are too vague. Does a rifle being semi automatic make it an assault rifle? How big of a clip is acceptable before a hunting rifle becomes an assault rifle?

Guns are great!!!

People on the other hand……

Cops like to make people believe that the guns they find are really bad. Thats why they describe them the way they do. They like to put fear in the minds of those that know little about firearms.

Guns don’t kill people.. Bullets kill people. But they have to be going really fast to do that.
I have a 10-22 ruger that has an “assault rife” stock on it–it’s not an assult rifle unless someone uses it for that. A sinle shot BB gun can be classed an assault rifle.

Guns don’t kill people. Bullets don’t kill people. These inanimate objects have no reason to kill people. People kill people.

Some guns are designed to kill ungulates, vermin, and birds. Some guns are designed to shoot targets. Other guns are designed to kill humans.

Why is it that many “gun people” are seemingly unable or unwilling to accept this very basic fact? It won’t hurt their cause and in fact, it would actually make them sound more intelligent which could help their cause when advocating for the responsible use of firearms by certain groups of people.

As for the “guns don’t kill people, people do” argument, it may sound great and get applause at a gun show, but anyone with a brain normally dismisses it for what it really is, pure nonsense. It’s simply a punch line that people throw out when they don’t have the ability to have a reasonable and thoughtful debate on the subject of guns and gun violence.

I’ve shot allot of guns in my life and I have no fear of firearms. I’m also intelligent enough to know that if someone has a cache of 40+ assault weapons (meaning firearms designed to kill people) and body armour in an obscure location, they are probably not responsible gum owners, nor do they intend on using those weapons for the future benefit of mankind.

Wake up people. You don’t have to come to the rescue of every gun owner on the planet just because you own a gun yourself. It tends to make you look a little crazy and in case you haven’t noticed, the general population doesn’t really care for the combination of crazy and guns, LOL.

Nice rant nmg. Much sound and fury, signifying nothing. Fact remains a human has to pull the trigger.

Up to your old tricks, I see. ;-)

Makes you wonder what’s going on there.
Does it have any connection to the prosperity mine at Fish Lake.

“Nice rant nmg. Much sound and fury, signifying nothing. Fact remains a human has to pull the trigger”

And what exactly is your point? Are you honestly suggesting that we should consider an assault rifle to be on par with a slingshot or fish bonker? LOL. Keep at it though, this is way too much fun . . .

Ahhh, garterbelt; the consummate troll. Bye now. See you in two weeks.

Libs; they just don’t get it do they?? Guns bad, guns kill people. LMAO.

In case you don’t understand the “guns don’t kill people, people do” argument, it essentially implies that if a gun (an assault rifle in this case since that is what the article is talking about) wasn’t available then some other weapon would be effectively substituted for it, thereby making the person the problem and not the actual weapon itself. I know it’s a goofy argument that is full of naivety, but I digress.

So anyway, getting back to my earlier question, are you in fact suggesting that a slingshot or fish bonker would serve as an effective substitute for an assault rifle?

This is sort of like being in checkmate. If you say that they would be effective substitutes, then you will just look silly. If you concede that they wouldn’t be effective substitutes, then you are conflicting the very foundation of the “guns don’t kill people” argument that you are using. Quite the quagmire!

I understand if you choose not to answer, LOL :)

Another nice rant nmg. Your argument is not
goofy or naive; it’s stupid. What started out as a silly story about cops finding guns
is suddenly all about assault rifles etc etc.
And you get your panties in a bunch.

Tell me smarta$$; when was the last time a gun was charged with murder.

Libtards!!! Sheesh.

Thats the nice thing about this site. Its a great forum for opinions even when those that think their opinions are fact!

Funny, for someone who throws labels like “Libs” and “Libtards” around, you are the one who dodges questions like a politician, LOL.

Oh and by the way, did you even read the article? Is military body armour now a top seller at Bon Voyage Sports for guys heading out for the Sep 10th moose season in 7-15? Sheesh.

Not taking sides Joeboy, but the article does say that most of the rifles are military assault rifles. Humans will always find a way to kill each other no matter what the medium. I seem to remember vehicles being used as a murder weapon in
2 homicides last year… ;)

Guns don’t kill people, but they sure make it a heck of a lot easier.
