Counterfeit Scam Fails In Prince George

Monday, December 12, 2011 @ 11:42 AM
Prince George – Police are investigating a scam in which attempts were made to pass counterfeit money last Friday.

The complainant reported that three males attempted to pass $100 bills to pay for an item that the complainant had listed in a local ‘classified’ type magazine. The complainant refused to take the bills and the suspects departed without further incident.

The three men were described as in their 30’s, one Caucasian, one First Nations and the third Asian with glasses. The three departed in a newer red Dodge Caravan minivan. Indication is that the suspects had many more counterfeit bills.

There have been several other reports of Counterfeit bills circulating in Prince George in December. Victims included delivery drivers, financial institutions and retail stores. The Prince George RCMP would like to warn the public to beware of this recent trend and ask that everyone take a moment to examine all currency when accepting cash.

Fiberals printing money we don’t have.

Do we have any details on how these bills can be detected?
