Prince George- A large quantity of heavy equipment has been seized after drug officers raided a rural property on Tuesday.
At approximately 9:00 AM, officers converged on the property located on Upper Mud River Road, approximately 25 kilometers from Prince George. Officers located and seized approximately 1400 marihuana plants and a large quantity of dried marihuana. Three large diesel generators, a large excavator, a skidsteer tractor and a heavy duty pick-up were also seized as offence related property.
The property was converted for the sole purpose of producing marihuana. Part of the property included an underground bunker. Although not currently being used, investigators believe that the purpose of this bunker was to grow marihuana.
Three adult males from Calgary, Alberta were arrested and have been charged by Federal Crown Counsel with Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. Christopher Kunze, 33 years, Thomas Heilman , 32 years and Christopher Meeuws, 19 years have all been released on bail with conditions.
The North District RCMP Drug Section’s CRIME Task Force has executed approximately 20 search warrants on properties associated to marihuana grow operations in the Prince George area this year

The police action against this criminal activity should become part of Calgary’s crime statistics and NOT of Prince George.
The property and all the equipment should be seized and auctioned off, with the money going to the Province of British Columbia.
If Calgary should bear the blame, then Calgary should get any money from selling the equipment.
Besides, the crimes occurred here. Why should Calgary bear the blame?
The story says that the three adult males are from Calgary. Since the story does not identify them as Prince George residents, I assume that they are Calgary residents, just conducting an illegal dope growing operation here.
Put them in handcuffs and deport them to the place where they came from.
The dope growers were driven out of the Lower Mainland to the Okanagan. Then the heat was put on them there. They went north to our area. Now they are even coming from other provinces!
Give us a break!
If ‘pot’ was legal and taken out of the hands of gangs and criminals; you would not be having this discussion. We would not be #1 in Canada either!!!
Yah well, that crime bill is law now just about. All because a number of people feel it will work.
they are charged with a federal offence so there for it is not a provincial thing but unfortunately it happened here. what bothers me is the release on bail part. BULL CRAP!! give them a snow shovel and have them earn their keep and provide society a service. they have cost us money so have them repay it with community service work until trial time.
maybe they will think of a alberta city to work out of next time…..oh ya there will be a next time, it is the Canadian way.
were would you like to put them in are prison thats full already with real criminals give me a break then we can pay to feed them great idea (shovel snow) you mean sit around and watch tv wall your tax money is paying for super channel wake up and look around you want to lock dope growers up you better be ready to up are taxes we need a couple jails and then we could feed half of pg smart
Build the prisons north of Resolute. No winter clothing, no fences, and let the polar bears handle the escapees. Problem handled.
there are still other facilities in the area, Huda Lake for one, but I don’t understand the coment “real criminals”. I thought you were either a criminal or not, you broke the law or you didn’t, simple.
If the jails are full already with real criminals sitting around watching tv on the tax payers coin then there is a definate need of change wouldn’t ya think.
hard labour, the “paddle”, even bring back the death penalty would probably make the not real criminals think twice. just maybe.

hard labour, the “paddle”, even bring back the death penalty would probably make the not real criminals think twice. just might free up some space in the already full prisons.
