Rain Makes A Slushy Mess
This snowman’s life may be a short one, given the rain in the forecast
Prince George, B.C. – The weather warning for the Prince George region ended last night, but that doesn’t mean the conditions are any less extreme…
Yesterday’s heavy snowfall, interspersed with some rain, left city and highway crews contending with a thick blanket of ‘white stuff’ and made area roads treacherous. RCMP Traffic Services say one person was killed and several others were injured in a head-on collision that occurred on Highway 16, just east of Vanderhoof shortly after 6pm last night. Police are advising motorists to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
Rain, at times heavy, started falling around midnight, with the temperature rising to plus one. Environment Canada says it will continue to warm to a high of plus five throughout the day. Periods of rain are to continue throughout the day, particularly east of the city.
The situation could grow even more precarious by late this evening, when the skies will clear and the overnight temperature is set to drop back down to a puddle-freezing minus-8.
