Terrace- Highway 16 remains closed today due to a high avalanche hazard, 40 kilometres west of Terrace , cutting off highway traffic to  Prince Rupert and the pacific coast.

The ministry of transport says the road may open at noon today, they however caution that they have low confidence in this.

The area across from the Gitnadoix River recreation area is prone to avalanches.

All along highway 16 slush and pools of water are reported on the highway.
