Hawkins Joins 250 News Team

Prince George, B.C.- Opinion 250 is pleased to announce that another seasoned journalist has joined our team.
 
Don Hawkins, who for more than two decades was  the voice of afternoon news on CKPG, joins the 250 News team January 1st.
 
Don Hawkins’ journalism career spans 42 years, the bulk of it in Victoria and Prince George, having started at CFAX Victoria in August, 1969. Professional opportunities have resulted in his coverage of news throughout the capital city region, including a stint as a broadcast reporter at the B.C. Legislature interviewing and writing about the politicians of the day such as Dave Barrett, W.A.C. and Bill Bennett and a host of other interesting characters. 
 
Don also worked in the Vancouver market and the Okanagan, specifically Kelowna, prior to moving to Prince George in the summer of 1983. 
 

With a career move in early 2011, Don now brings his skills, abilities and enthusiasm to the news outlet that prides itself on bringing the news of north-central B.C. to an ever-expanding audience in a timely, professional manner, Opinion 250 News.

I have listened to Don for more than 20 years. I remember meeting him at a creek in Hixon many years ago and have always liked his “spin” on the news.. good going Don.You should have run for mayor….lol

Don Hawkins; you possess one of the great voices of radio, according to my brother, who should know, and I happen to agree.

You will be missed at CKPG, I am sure.

acrider – we lived on Shelbourne street by Cedarglen in 64-75 and all went to Gordon Head Elementary. good memories . . .
