Thursday, December 22, 2011 @ 12:11 PM
Prince George, B.C.- Former Prince George Cougar, Brett Connolly, has been named one of the alternate Captains for Team Canada’s World Junior Team.

Captain of the team is Jaden Schwartz who missed much of last year’s tournament after suffering a broken ankle. Schwartz is a 19 year old native of Wilcox Saskatchewan and is in his second year at Colorado College where he has racked up 18 points in 13 games  this season.

Connolly joins fellow forward Quinton Howden of Oak Bank Manitoba, Devante Smith-Pelly of Toroto and Defenceman Brandon Gormley   of Murray River P.E.I as alternate Captains. All are veterans of the Team Canada Junior Team.

Team Canada’s first game of the tournament is on Boxing Day at 12:30 Pacific time when they take on Finland.

There is a pre-tournament exhibition game tonight on TSN as Team Canada takes on Switzerland at 6 p.m. PT.
