Monday, December 26, 2011 @ 4:21 PM
Fort. St. John, B.C. – A Fort St. John family has come back from their Christmas holiday in the Okanagan to find their home destroyed by fire.

The double wide home in the Peace Country Mobile home Park, went up in flames late Christmas morning. While the residents were away at the time, the family cat had been left behind, and has not been located.

The Ft. St. John Fire department got the call about the fire just before noon on Christmas day. They were able to prevent the flames from spreading to any other homes in the neighbourhood.

Friends and neighbours have been   working to collect donations for the family of five.
This fire was the second residential fire in the Peace region on Christmas day.
In Dawson Creek an early morning blaze ripped through a vacant home on 96th Avenue in that city  just before 6 a.m on Christmas Day. The cause of that fire is still under investigation but is considered suspicious.
