Prince George, B.C.- As the deadline approaches for entries to the Kraft Hockeyville contest for 2012, Prince George has The Coliseum on the list of possible entries, but has not yet qualified.
In order to qualify for the contest, there must be at least one photo and story submitted to support the entry, and so far, that hasn’t happened.
Quesnel on the other hand, is on the list of “qualified” entrants and is pushing to win the title of “Hockeyville 2012” a title which will result in the winning community getting $100,000 in arena upgrades from Kraft and an NHL® Pre-Season Game .
Other B.C. communities already in the running are:
- Royal LePage Place, West Kelowna
- Planet Ice – Total Sport Entertainment, Maple Ridge
- Kimberley Civic Centre, Kimberley
- Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, Prince Rupert
- Kaslo Arena, Kaslo
- Nicola Valley Memorial Arena, Merritt
- Jim Lind Arena, West Kelowna
- Kerry Park Recreation Centre, Mill Bay
The deadline for entries is January 31, 2012 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Competition Period”) ONLY.
Last year’s winner was Conception Bay South, Newfoundland.

I think we ought to leave this to other, mostly smaller, communities to duke out.
We have the 2015 Canada Winter Games to look forward to, including all the costs and benefits associated with that.
Past winners of Kraft Hockeyville are: Salmon River, Nova Scotia (2006)
North Bay, Ontario (2007),
Roberval, Quebec (2008),
Terrace, British Columbia (2009)
Dundas, Ontario (2010)
Conception Bay South, Newfoundland (2011)
I’m cheering for St. Stephen, NB. Wonderful place for shellfish.
After all……we’re already crime ville….
We should have a thing called “CleanUpville” so that we can breath clean air and not the crap off our road surfaces.
Cheers
Might as well add “PoisonWaterville” too until they stop poisoning the water with fluoride.
Or “Paranoidville”?
Giant waste of time…unless you have a little Timmy with Cancer who’s dream it is to have a new arena, or your only arena is condemned with no place for little Timmy to skate, or some other appropriate sob story there’s no way you win this.
Stinkville
“Curmudgeonville”?
couch potatoe losers who’s only goal is to contribute to a community wide low self esteem and probably haven’t seen much of the rest of the planet-ville???
Hockeyville does not equal 1700 per game for the Cougars. Let’s not waste any energy or dollars on this.
Uh, the Cougars made their bed and now they are lying in it.
As far as Hockeyville goes, may the best town win.
PotHoleville!
Hockey’s great!
