Counter Attack Nets Nearly Two Dozen Drivers for Impaired Driving

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 @ 10:51 AM

Prince George, B.C.- The  stats from the month long  Counter Attack  program in Prince George have been compiled, and it seems some people still don’t get the message about drinking and driving.

During this month long campaign police issued:

Nineteen (19), twenty four hour  driving suspensions. Five drivers were suspended for alcohol impairment, while fourteen (14) other drivers were found to be under the influence of drugs.

Twenty Two (22) drivers saw their driving privileges suspended for three (3) days, while two (2) drivers were suspended from driving for ninety (90) days. All were as a result of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Twenty three (23) people face criminal code charges for driving while impaired,  eight  (8) of which  were for drug impairment and fifteen (15) for impairment by alcohol.

Sad

Yes, very sad. Don’t these people understand that they could kill people or cripple them for life???

Scary to think that these are only the ones who were caught.

WELL DONE! And thankyou.

DUI is one of the few offenses that I think are not punished harshly enough. Name, shame and pull their license for life.

Very disappointing to see these stats.

I just love this way of reporting statistical info, NOT!!

For instance,
1. …. fourteen (14) other drivers were found to be under the influence of drugs

and then
2. …. people face criminal code charges for driving while impaired, eight (8) of which were for drug impairment

So are the 8 a subset of the 14, or are they distinct so that a total of 22 were under the influence of drugs?

criminal code charges = 23

90 day suspension = 2

3 days suspension = 22

24 hour suspension = 19

Total = 66

So average is just over 2 a day.

And this compares how over the last 10 years? Are we getting any improvement?

If yeas, what are we doing right?

If not, what are we doing wrong?

Total propaganda garbage.

glad to see that the police are doing their job but it still is a little scarey knowing that people still don’t get it, driving impaired hurts and sometimes kills people. Hope I don’t have contact with any impaired drivers, for their sake, is all I can say.
Cheers.

And they still want to sell beer at CN center.

Shut down all the bars and liquor stores! That ought to fix it.

you will never stop some people from becoming impaired before driving. It happens in countries that put people to death for it. It is wrong..but it will always happen. As for the drugs well expect more of that due to the .05 junk law. People will escape reality somehow and the police with the new law have made them try other means undetectable by a quick test like the breathalizer.

As for people having a beer at the cougars game big deal. If you dont want to drink at the cougars game then dont buy one. If you are one of the 25 people who still goes to a cougars game and want a beer.. well then enjoy it and make sure you have a safe ride home.

I did something the other day that I have never done in my life. I did have a bit too much to drink and I knew it, so I took a bus home and arrived safe and sound. Now, I have never driven a bus before and I would like to know where I got this one.

^5 ….. LOL

super, next time try a police car. They are easier to drive and everyone gets out of your way.
