Prince George, B.C. — The visiting Valley West Hawks scored twice in the third period as the Cariboo Cougars skated to a 2-2 tie Sunday afternoon taking three of four points up for grabs.
In a much more evenly paced game than Saturday night’s 5-2 Cougars win, it took until the 13:17 mark of the second period to open scoring when Tanner Fjellstrom scored his 10th of the season on the power play. Late in the period, Hayden-James Berra kept his hot streak going with his fifth point of the weekend as he put the puck past Hawks netminder Angus Redmond.
The Hawks finally solved David Readman 6:10 into the final frame when Daniell Lange scored on the power play. Four minutes later the Hawks tied the game at two with a tally from Spencer Meyer which stood as the final goal of the afternoon.
The Hawks outshot the Cats 28-21 as the Cougars went 1/4 on the power play killing off all but one of their seven penalties.
The Cougars’ record now stands at 15-7-4, one point ahead of the Vancouver NE Chiefs for second place in BCMML, and six points behind the leading Vancouver NW Giants.
The Cats head south for All-Star weekend with the annual game taking place at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Centre in Coquitlam on Friday. The Cougars then visit the Chiefs for a pair of games Saturday and Sunday at Planet Ice.

Why does the headline say Rough Weekend….? Team played great and got 3 of 4 points. Would have preferred 4 points but still a great result!!
