Merritt, B.C.- The Coquihalla highway is closed following a  multi vehicle crash that  has claimed one  life.

Although investigators are still on the scene,  the early reports are of a  crash involving  7  large trucks south of Merritt.

Traffic is being rerouted  on highways 1 and 8.

It is possible  the southbound  stretch of the Coquihalla south of Merritt could reopen  within the hour, but the highway won’t be fully  open until at least noon.

Poor weather and bad road conditions are believed to have  been factors in this multi vehicle crash.
