Further Charges Laid in Fatal Fire
Prince George. B.C.- The man accused of setting the Merritt Road fire on the weekend is now facing additional charges.
Frank Marion has now been charged with criminal negligence causing death and manslaughter. The charges are in addition to one count of arson causing bodily harm. The additional charges have been laid following the death of 85 year old Jagdev Singh Jawanda, the owner of the home. He succumbed to injuries suffered in the early Saturday morning blaze.
Mr. Jawanda’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jagdev Singh Jawanda scholarship fund which has been set up at the Scotiabank in Prince George.
Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the blaze before emergency crews arrived on scene to please contact them. They would also like to view any pictures or video taken at the time of the fire.

Another Piece of S walking this Earth, killing a good old Man, why did he have to die and this low life lives on.
That always seems to be the way. When will we as a society finally stand up and deal properly with these types of criminals. Bring back capital punishment.
My sympathies to the Jawanda family.
Isn’t arson resulting in death murder? Arson is an intentional setting of fire.
I thought so too. But then thought possibly no one was in the house when he set the fire so there wouldnt have been intent. The victim may have entered the house after the fire was set to try to save some items and then succumbed. That’s the only way I can see why no charge of murder was brought forward.
