Its too bad we never did hear more about Alterna Energy building that charcoal plant out Isle Pierre. I thought the idea of producing charcoal from dead pine tree and birch and what not was a fantastic idea. They say it had the same BTU as coal per weight.
I think with carbon trading values one could really make an impact creating a market for a product like that to many many places in Asia especially that use charcoal for cooking fuel. Have it shipped to local coal fire power plants bulk (subsidized with carbon credits) where it could be sold off to distributors as a secondary market for cooking fuel replacing the need for deforestation in those countries. IMO it could easily become the biggest commodity in BC… both the commodity and related technology.
In my minds eye it seems so obvious an opportunity….
Time Will Tell
oh, I thought it was a Conservative political convention…silly me.
Carbon credits and carbon trading. What a scam. Imagine, trading guilt to make more money. Only a politician could come up with a scam like that.
Carbon credits and carbon trading. The banks like it so that should make one wonder.
Sounds like a boring forum. All pre-planned — who goes to these forums anyway?? I wouldn’t believe a damn word out of any politicians mouth. These people are all up there puffing out their chest and saying: “look at me”. What they should be saying is: “I’m not doing one damn thing to help anyone”.
