Spruce Kings High On Scouting Chart
list of BCHL players on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm rankings of North
American skaters eligible for 2012 NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh. Also
appearing on the list released Wednesday January 11th is the current BCHL
scoring leader, Paul De Jersey.
Khaira, from Surrey, BC, is ranked 80th among North American skaters – the
highest ranked player from the British Columbia Hockey League. The 17 year
old is playing in his second season in the BCHL with the Prince George
Spruce Kings and has produced a record of 52 points (19 goals and 33
assists) in 31 games. Earlier this season Khaira skated to a gold medal
finish with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge in Langley, BC.
De Jersey, from West Vancouver, BC, makes his first appearance on the NHL
Central Scouting list at 203rd. De Jersey has been consistently the Spruce
Kings and League’s scoring leader throughout the season and currently has a
record of 30 goals and 37 assists in 36 games. With almost a 2 point a game
average, De Jersey is currently on a 20 game points streak.
"It is definitely exciting for Jujhar and Paul and also equally exciting for
the organization that both players have been identified by NHL Central
Scouting," said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. "It is very
important as an organization that we are able to put players in a position
to advance their hockey careers. Jujhar and Paul have both worked extremely
hard to achieve this mid-season ranking and both realize that there is still
a lot of work to do to remain there. They have obviously been a huge part of
our success this season and they also understand that team success leads to
individual success."
