Sneek Peak Inside New Cancer Clinic
Radiation therapy reception area in the open-later-this year regional cancer centre
Prince George, B.C. – It is not an actual tour, at this point, but city residents are invited to a public information session on the new BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North this evening where they’ll be able to watch a video tour of the facility…
When the $106-million dollar regional centre opens next door to UNHBC late this year it will bring radiation therapy service to Northern BC for the first time. The 5,000-square metre building will house two linear accelerators for the radiation therapy treatment, a computerized-tomography simulator for treatment planning, a chemotherapy treatment unit, pharmacy and general outpatient clinics.
Northern Cancer Control Strategy Communications Officer, Sonya Kruger, says approximately 100 direct new staff will work at the centre once it’s operational. Kruger says recruitment is ongoing, but core medical and leadership staff are already in place.
The Centre’s Directors of Clinical Operations will be on-hand for this evening’s information session, which will run from 7pm to 9pm in the Summit Room at the Coast Inn of the North.

Very comfortable seating I see.
I am so happy that the cancer center is coming along so nicely, but couldn’t they have splurged on comfortable seats in the waiting area? Those benches look awful.
I believe the word you’re looking for is SNEAK, not sneek.
Im glad its going to be a beautiful, warm and inviting building and I really hope I never have to see the inside of it other than to have a look see. The North has needed this for a long time and it will be good to have these services closer than Vanouver or Kelowna for those who need it…
And I just noticed, PEEK, not peak.
Oh yeah, and the clinic looks nice too.
The *benches* may be tables for computers and monitors.
I think those are plant benches …..
You might be able to “curl” up on them and go to sleep. Just bring your pillow.
I think the idea is that you won’t have a comfortable seat, therefore you will move along quickly??? I bet those get changed rather quickly. Other than that its about time we get this center open to serve the north. I have ‘fond’ memories of going to Vancouver for treatments with former spouse and that hassle!!
“oh my goodness” doesn’t look warm and a comfortable place to be. I sure hope those are not seating.
If you look closely at the surface you’ll find a rectangular area for some yet unknown surface.
I toured the online video of the Cancer Centre exterior and interior and it shows curved upholstered seating, very comfortable in appearance.

That link will help to take a closer look. To me it looks like light vinyl flooring in the hallway part and a fake wood surface in the alcove adjacent reception area.
It is great to have the cancer clinic.
That being said, this is not exactly the best photo choice of an inviting/pleasant area for patients and anyone accompanying them. It is the inner bowels of a building, not much different from many of the areas in the main hospital and most hospitals for that matter.
Maybe it’s a change room?
Got it! The benches are just there as weight on the freshly installed laminate.
