Spruce Kings Lose A Close One On The Road
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Spruce Kings fell 4-3 to the Chilliwack Chiefs in regulation time at the Prospera Centre in Chilliwack tonight, after the Chiefs scored the tying and winning goals just 22-seconds apart in the dying minutes of the third period.
After a scoreless first period, the teams each scored one in the second. Chilliwack jumped to the early lead in the third with a goal just 2:23 in, before Paul De Jersey scored on the power play at 7:37. Myles Fitzgerald added what appeared to be the go-ahead goal for Prince George midway through, before David Bondra tied it at 3-3 for Chilliwack with just over two-minutes remaining. Derek Huisman notched the game winner for the Chiefs 22-seconds later.
Prince George sits in third place in the Interior Division with 43-points behind Penticton at 70-points and Merritt at 51-points. The Kings face Penticton tomorrow night in the South Okanagan.
