Financial Disclosure Documents Trickling In From Municipal Election

Prince George, B.C.- Although the candidates in the November 2011 municipal election have until March 19th to file their election financial reports, some have already done so.
Two of the 6 Mayoral candidates, and three of the 18 Council candidates have filed their information.
Here is what the documents tell us:
Eugene Fetterly had no campaign contributions and paid no money out for goods or services in his bid to become Mayor. He was the first of the candidates to file his financial documents as he filed his papers on November 21st, just two days after the vote. Fetterly garnered 513 votes.
Brandon Lewis, also a candidate for the Mayor’s chair, spent $849.80 in an effort to get elected. He spent most of that money (634.80) on pamphlets, brochures and signs. The balance was spent on campaign related advertising and transportation. He did not declare that he had received any donations. Lewis got 707 votes in the November 19th ballot.
As for Councillors, candidates Joanne Dickenson and Travis Shaw have both filed papers saying they neither received any donations nor did they spend a dime on their election bids. Dickenson received 2482 votes, while Shaw picked up 1598.
Garth Frizzell, who was successful in his bid for a seat on Council, collected $2260.00 for his campaign. The single largest contribution was from Clint Dahl who put in one thousand dollars, followed by John Major who contributed $400. Frizzell’s major expense was for advertising He spent $1,494.08 on conventional advertising, (radio, t.v. newspapers and electronic news) and a further$667.31 on non traditional advertising. Frizzell was elected, picking up 6189 votes.
Yet to be filed are the financial disclosures from a further 15 Council and 4 Mayoral candidates.
