The  Nechako River levels have risen  from 1 1/2 to 2 meters  in the past  24 hours.  The situation is now being monitored on a  regular basis by City of Prince George Staff and the Ministry of the Environment’s Senior Flood Hazard Officer.

Residents in the area have been advised  that ice jamming is occurring.

Well here we go again. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

I think that this will continue to be a problem until we get a good dreding job done on both the

Still have the phone number of the Amphibex outfit?

dredging done on both the Nechako and Fraser Rivers.

Does Alcan ever pay for damages when they release water from the Skins Lake spillway this time of year?

Slim2229, no Alcan does not, nor do we pay Alcan for saving us from floods. Alcan’s control over the water in the spring time saves us from being flooded in May, June and early July.

Wow, maybe the new raised road gets used to test out the situation. How many millions of dollars got spent on this. Its still going to flood, the water is just going to perculate through the gravel. Slim..

Have a look at the old records at the library before the kenny dam was built. The floods and ice jams used to go right over first ave.

I knew this would happen when fraser froze over because now the nechako ice has no where to go. Shes going to get interesting.

Somewhere in my foggy brain, I understood Alcan releaed water just before last time we flooded.

North, the cache was interesting in the 50’s, used a raft to go from River Rd. to the old school which was about 200 yards south of the road.

Tuesday it will be plus 10 with rain… maybe shift some of that ice around a bit? Maybe create some flash water flows?
