Prince George, B.C. – Premier Christy Clark has issued a statement on last night’s explosion and fire at Babine Forest Products.
The premier says “our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been injured and with their families. I join all British Columbians in praying for their speedy recovery. There has been a remarkable response from across the region. I want to thank all the emergency responders, health officials and local officials for the incredible job done under very difficult circumstances. “
“As officials remain on the scene, I want Mayor Luke Strimbold and the entire community to know they have the full support of government as they go through this very difficult time.”

Very respectful for the premier to offer her suport. Good she does not ignore the north.
Thanks Christy. If you wanna travel up there, the mill is right next to the airstrip.
Babine Forest Products is no where near the airstrip……
When one travels from Vancouver, the 40 and a bit km from the airport to the mill is just like being next door.
Distance is relative.
I think slim2229 is tryuing to express that he would like to fly her up …. ;-)
Isn’t the airstrip west of Burns Lake and the mill east of the town? At least that is what I notice every few weeks I travel by Burns Lake.
Looks like Rustad and the premier are coming to Burns Lake.
“I want to thank all the emergency responders, health officials and local officials for the incredible job done under very difficult circumstances”
Thank them by giving them a fair contract instead of making them buy more KY
Yes DPJ, you are correct. :)
Sorry folks, I screwed up, there’s another mill.
Yes Gus, I’d love to fly her up. Don’t have a licence, but I know how to fly a Dehaviland Beaver.
