Snowstorm Whips Through City

Blowing snow and snow drifts make driving a challenge

Prince George, B.C. –  Shovels and snowblowers seem to be the ‘order’ of the afternoon.

Gillett Street resident, Darrel Neil, is out doing what many in the city are attempting this afternoon – trying to stay one step ahead of Mother Nature.

There was a brief break over the lunch hour from the snow-bearing Pacific frontal system moving across the Central Interior, but it’s back.

Traffic on the main routes is kicking up plumes of snow that can make driving a challenge and the side streets are being blanketed by another layer.

Environment Canada is forecasting rain to be added to the mix by late afternoon, with rain showers or flurries overnight.

While the temperature is only minus 1.5, the gusting wind is making it feel much colder.  The wind is pegged at between 30- and 50km/hr for the rest of the day.

Winter X Games,NHL skills, six pack of beer, now all I need is a chonger but it`s not worth driving in this for…so I`ll just do with the six pack…

Heard of a nasty accident close to UNBC. Any word what happened and injuries?

Those washboards at intersections with signals or stop signs are bone jarring.

Won’t be fixed till after Sunday night. Crazy!!!

I was REALLY amazed Saturday night to see the city crews out plowing the snow in town! Wow! That hasn’t happened for years! Even plow trucks had their blades down where they could! Did somebody at City hall finally wake up? VERY good to see, nonetheless!

Some loader operators seem to not know though, that their buckets are not to be more than one foot off the ground while travelling the roads. That is law.
