Private Services Begin For Victims Of Burns Lake Sawmill Fire
Prince George, B.C. – A private memorial service is being held this evening in Burns Lake for Carl Charlie, one of two men who died in the January 20th explosion and fire at the Babine Forest Products sawmill.
The 42-year-old man was a member of the Babine Lake First Nation and will be honoured in a traditional ceremony in Burns Lake this evening. A funeral service is planned for Saturday in Burns Lake.
A funeral service for 45-year-old Robert Luggi, who also perished in the tragedy is set for tomorrow at the Stellat’en Hall in Fraser Lake. At the request of Luggi’s family, the service is also closed to the public.
The Mayor of Burns Lake, Luke Strimbold, is declining to offer any comment at this time, respecting the families’ privacy as they continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones. The mayor’s assistant says plans are in the works to possibly hold a public memorial for the whole community at a later date.
