Alcohol Appears To Be Factor In Fatal Head-On Crash On Hwy 16

Thursday, February 2, 2012 @ 10:23 PM

Prince George, B.C. –  Alcohol is believed to have been factor in a head-on collision on Highway 16, west of Fraser Lake this evening, that has left one person dead.

The crash between a Honda Civic car and a pick-up truck occurred on the Stellaquo bridge, approximately five-kilometres west of the community shortly before 8:30pm.

Prince George Regional/Provincial Traffic Services Staff-Sergeant Pat McTiernan says the male driver of the car died at the scene, while the female driver of the pick-up appears to have escaped the crash uninjured.  There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Staff-Sergeant McTiernan says evidence at the scene indicates the deceased may have been drinking.  A traffic collision expert is still en route from Prince George.

Highway 16 remains closed to both lanes of traffic at this time.  Motorists are advised to check www.drivebc.ca for updates.

Bad to say but at least its the one that was drunk that died and not other victims.

Yeah…usually it’s the other way around…. the one drinking is fine and the family they hit dies.

Add to this, do feel for the family members of the deceased drunk driver.
