Water Main Leak Forces Large Excavation To Repair
Prince George, BC – Two businesses and a six-plex along Highway 16 in the Gateway in Prince George are expected to be without water until this evening, as city crews work to repair a leak in a main water transmission line that supplies the reservoir…
Supervisor of Utility Operations, Blake McIntosh, says the crews have isolated that section of the line and shut off water – affecting Northland Dodge, Northland Hyundai, and a row of townhouses across Highway 16.
McIntosh says a large excavation is underway on the City’s easement in the lot at Northland Hyundai. He says there’s a tremendous amount of dirt and earth to move because it’s been built up beyond the original 10-feet to about 15-feet on top of the line.
McIntosh says crews are working cautiously to ensure the safety of those involved and it is expected to be this evening before the line is repaired and the water turned back on.

May be the Core Review will find that our old water mains are just rotting away. Mabybe we should start thinking about maintenance of our aging infrastructure.
Cheers
As a matter of fact they have just appointed a new person to that position, or possibly created the position I am not sure.
Maybe the city can save a few bucks and just put a new water line through the underpass down the road apiece.
The City’s current program for infrastructure:
1. Wait until it breaks.
2. Fix it.
Finally some new pavement.
A new Cop shop is more important than city maintenance. Hell of a good spend.
Hey, come on! We need a new cop shop!
Water? Just drink local beer.
