Police Search For Hit And Run Motorist In Hope Fatality

Hope, B.C. – Fraser Valley Traffic Services RCMP is looking for witnesses to a pedestrian fatality on Highway 1 near Hope, early this morning.
At 6:30 this morning the RCMP received a call of a pedestrian walking in the eastbound lane on Highway 1, west of Hope. Before police could respond, they received another call of a pedestrian struck in the west bound lane, west of Hope.
Police are only confirming right now that a male has been struck and killed. More information regarding his age or community residence will be released pending notification of next of kin.
“At this time police do not believe road conditions or speed were factors in this fatality,” says Corporal Holly Marks, acting spokesperson for Lower Mainland District Regional Police Service.
The Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is on scene now investigating.
