Modest Growth For BC in 2012

Monday, February 6, 2012 @ 11:48 AM

Prince George, BC – The BC Economic Forecast Council is predicting modest economic growth for the province this year and next…

According to updated predictions released today, the council expects BC’s economy to post 2.2-percent growth this year.  It has revised its forecast for 2013 downward slightly from a prediction of 2.6-percent two months ago at its annual meeting, to 2.5-percent.  But the forecast average for 2014 to 2016 remains unchanged at 2.7-percent.

The 14-member council presents its forecasts as part of the province’s annual budget process – members are surveyed in the fall and then, again, in January.  Finance Minister, Kevin Falcon, says, "As we prepare for Budget 2012, we are monitoring economic events closely."

Falcon says, "We will have a balanced budget in 2013-14, as our prudent and conservative fiscal managemet will protect us from the debt-fuelled economic problems besetting other parts of the world."

The spring session of the BC Legislature gets underway next week, February 14th.

They will have a balanced budget in 2013 and 2014 because they are ripping off taxpayers to the tune of $500 Million or more per year with the HST.

Not only are we paying the additional $500 or more a year to the Government, we are also paying the $1.6 Billion in taxes that used to be paid by business and corporations. In other words we are getting royally screwed.

If we dont get an announcement pretty quick from the Liberals that they will be getting rid of this HST sooner rather than later, all hell is going to break loose.

We won the referendum. The taxes should be returned to the July 2010 status, and it should happen now.

Enough of this Falcon BS. Its time for some action. Either them or us.

We are about due for a big rally on the lawns in Victoria.

I’m betting the PST will never come back; I hope I’m right this time.
