Cab Driver Injured, Suspect Sought

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 @ 10:47 AM

Prince George, BC –  Prince George RCMP are releasing a photograph of a suspect wanted in connection with an incident involving a local taxi cab driver towards the end of last month.

Police say they were called to University Hospital of Northern BC on January 23rd, where a 63-year-old cab driver was receiving treatment for injuries received during an alleged assault involving a fare.

The driver told police the suspect appeared to be intoxicated, became agitated and put him in a headlock while demanding money, when the taxi arrived at its destination in the area of Alexander Crescent and Athlone Avenue.  The driver says he was able to fight the man off while yelling for help.  The suspect fled on foot near Alexander.

The suspect is described as a First Nations male, approximately six-feet-tall.  He was wearing a white jacket with designs on it, a green and white Canucks baseball cap, and was carrying a backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

January 23rd? If the RCMP has such a huge “in basket” maybe they should hire more officers.

It’s not up to the RCMP as to how many officers get hired. The city sets the budget for policing, new hires have to be done within that.

You need to put a caption under these photos, for instance on this one should read,Hello my name is ass hole,I was born and bred by A Holes..and I`ll be your robber tonight…

Sorry, but all cabs should have lexan barriers between the front and rear seats. Not the Cabbie’s fault the fare was a low life free loading schmuck, but this sort of assault is all too common these days.
The last place I would want to be is in front of some of the colourful people who ride around in cabs.
metalman.

I’ve driven cab in this town, and I never ever let anyone sit directly behind me when I did unless there were more than four passengers, which makes the likelihood of having a problem with one remote.

From behind, they have all the power and all the leverage.

Whenever someone got in directly behind me, I made them move, or I wouldn’t move the car anywhere.

Crime aside, that’s a seriously creepy photo. It’s like a still shot from The Blair Witch Project.

I totally agree with Vulgar Sage!!

Sine Nomine – I did the same thing when I was driving cab here.
Metalman – I agree and the lexan barrier should go from the floor of the cab to the roof of the cab.

Duh I am going to pose for the camera then rob the cabbie, duh dat da plan.

Most likely IF he is caught, IF he is charged, IF he goes to court, he will be released with promise to appear, and IF he does stand before a judge he may just have to take a taxi to the courthouse for that. Ha ha ha .

The RCMP better have some solid DNA evidence because (as the story says) it’s only an alleged assault. Otherwise the gentleman in the picture will simply deny all allegations. How come nobody in the First Nations community knows this fellow?

Harbinger, you are so on the money! I drove cab in Prince George for over 8 years. I purchased a lexan shield for my cab. I will never know how many times it saved me.It is kind of like a concrete form, you never know when it is too strong, but you will always know when it is too weak.

These thugs, (if they do get jail time)when released, will have a taxi waiting for them at the exit of the prison to take them for a free ride to the bus depot. It is quite possible, that the driver they robbed will be the one required to give them the free ride to the bus depot!

The system really sucks, and the judges are really pathetic on all the arms of JUSTICE…..did I say JUSTICE??? What a joke that is……

The lawyers and judges are the most corrupt in the whole country. These are the people we should lock up to begin with!!

Don’t they have video in the cabs? Pretty hard to dismiss video evidence. If they don’t have it, they should.

JohnnyBelt, How do you think they got the picture of this dirt bag!!! Duh…………
