Canadaâs Housing Bubble Is Stretched to the Limit
http://www.thetrumpet.com/9087.7872.0.0/economy/canadas-housing-bubble-is-stretched-to-the-limit
Scary article Charles!
Charles, I believe that the majority of the people getting into these mortgages are in their mid to late 20’s,and have no concept on what 30 to 40 years mean. Many of them are educated, yes, but many live on the idea that they should live like their parents from day 1. A 4400 sq. ft. house with all the trimmings and 2 new vehichles in the stone driveway, and their babies have not even come yet. I believe that media plays a very big role in how these young adults start their financial lives.
Just what I have seen in the youth in the past few years, not all, but many. Thanks for the link to the article.
Have a Great friday everyone…..
What a couple of weeks for our Prime Minister Stephen Harperâ¦.
First he is off to Davos to rub shoulders with the New World Order corporate elites to encourage Europe to take on policies of austerity. As a show of support he announces cuts to the Old Age Security for Canadians making retirement eligibility 2 more years further at age 67. The government actuaries say it is fully funded and sound, and that any changes are for political reasons. So for all who voted for the conservatives that are under the age of 50⦠it is effectively a vote to work an extra two years before retirement (for ideological reasons).
Why would people vote for this I donât understand? For most in the resource sector stretching retirement from 65 to 67 simply is not possible physically, but that will matter little to an ideologue that has only ever worked from behind a desk. I wonder where the Prime Minister finds his base of support for cutting old age security?
Then we get the trip to China to sell them our oil at any cost. No matter that the rest of the western world is disgusted at Chinaâs veto over the atrocities taking place in Syria⦠Assad regime estimates they will need to kill 40,000 in Homs to put down the resistance⦠with the killing well under way (7000 and counting). Even the American republicans are offended that Harper is doing deals with China at this time rewarding them with diplomatic cover.
So Harper does his best Neville Chamberlain impression and ignores the reality of a China that will support the Assad atrocities in order to uphold a precedent they wish to maintain for themselves (at least Russia has billions in unpaid arms sales they hope to collect on), but for China its purely about supporting a country that uses its army to kill its own people⦠so they have a right to do the same (in their way of thinking).
For Harper what is important is that the oil companies get the global market rates for their oil⦠so that all oil in Canada is repriced 20% higher at the global market rates⦠thereby causing inflation to all other sectors of the economy who donât win⦠and Enbridge Gateway with a smiling circus clown partner is the way to do it.
To seal the deal Harper wants to legally open Canada up to corporate communist ownership, and an eventual free trade deal that would gut what is left of our manufacturing and value added industries. Under Harper we will be a resource based economy only and China will control the means of production.
Next stop Israel, where Harper will once again declare Canada will go to war with anyone that attacks Israel⦠giving Israel the green light to bring Canada to war on the Israeli terms. Israel I think will wait until after Ron Paul can simply not win the republican nomination, and then when it is most politically bad for Obama because they want to show Obama to be weak. Harper will get his marching orders from Israel for war, and in turn Harper will also likely contribute some condemnation of the evil NGOâs⦠one upping his attacks on Gateway opponents with a crusade against the Palestinian NGOâs⦠ignoring completely the fact his rhetoric enables Egypt in its crack down on American NGOâs with no less than 19 of the 70+ detained in Egypt being children of American Congressmen working under a Congressional NGO⦠but they are collateral damage and whatâs important to Harper is blind ideology that shows contempt for NGOâs and anyone that advocates a different policy than his own⦠but the Americans are watching and getting uneasy with Harper.
I think Harper may be doing well with the Chinese and Israeli leadership recently, but he made no friends south of our border that is for sure.
I think our Prime Minister is acting highly irresponsible and rouge geopolitically (China, Syria, Iran, Davos), without principle operating a hidden agenda domestically (OAS cuts and Gateway pipeline), and dangerous for our future economic security …(giving our country away to globalist interests like the locomotive deal (intellectual capital), or free trade with Chinese wage labor).
So does the new policy of Stephen Harper represent your interests? I would argue it does not.
Just Google “CSIS China”for some interesting reading. Here is one article:
http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Canada/20070430/csis_china_070430/#ixzz1lz6pgHJz
From that article:
“Prime Minister Stephen Harper, when he was still Opposition leader, claimed there were up to 1,000 Chinese agents in Canada.
He quoted a CSIS official as saying that Chinese spies stole $1 billion worth of technological secrets every month.
Last year, Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay said he wanted a crackdown on Chinese espionage. MacKay is currently on a China visit.
In a 2004 report, CSIS said Chinese economic espionage targeted information including contract details, supplier lists, planning documents, research and development data, technical drawings and computer databases.
Foreign students and scientists, business delegations and immigrants were among those recruited as informants, the spy agency said”
Interesting, LOL.
Get off your cell phones and drive !
While waiting for the left turn signal at 97/16 intersection coming from Costco to go north on the Bypass I glanced to my left and saw a woman texting in her car. When the lights changed she did not notice that it was time to move and I heard a blaring of car horns. She appeared beside me once more in the other lane and was still texting with her head bent forward and eyes focussed on the cellphone instead of on the road. She kept doing that well past the intersection with 10th Avenue, finally disappearing on 5th. Never saw a hand on the steering wheel so she probably was steering the car with her knees or some other body part.
Is there such an illness as extreme cellphone addiction combined with a suicidal tendency?
Agree HarleyGuy72. I wonder when the lawsuits are going to start.
Treat it like impaired driving.
Sue the cell phone manufactures for allowing their product to work after 10km/hr. There is already an app out there for this type of setup but it should be manditory.
Sit at an intersection and start taking photos of these morons and post them on the internet. People love it when they see their pictures online!
The following video should be manditory viewing when you buy a cell phone.

The last heavy snowfall we had , my wife was driving down Ospika from 15th to Massey , the car in front of her was weaving ,and speed fluctuating up and down. She did not feel safe passing her but finally took a chance , and as she did the girl driving was busy texting. Not only while driving , but driving in a heavy snowfall and texting.
I see at least a dozen every morning on my 7 minute commute to work, so how is it the cops can’t seem to see them?
The RCMP have to be looking up as well in order to see what’s happening. Lead by example.
Most cops are too busy looking at the computer in their car while driving. Far to busy to notice illegal phone use.
The other night a young gal almost drove into me, yup staring down at her phone toy.
People can’t be “disconnected” for 10 lousy minutes in order to get from point A to B safely.
Where are our community reps? Doesn’t it matter to you that PG is always being gouged at the pumps? I propose a municipal bylaw to regulate fuel prices so they never exceed the national average!!
“Where are our community reps? Doesn’t it matter to you that PG is always being gouged at the pumps? I propose a municipal bylaw to regulate fuel prices so they never exceed the national average!!”
You’re kidding right? You seriously want to restrict someone’s right to make a profit?
Hey willyj I think you hit the nail on the head there. I too believe that so many of the GenY (and some late GenXers too) cohort believe that the moment they leave their parents’ homes that they should have all the trappings their parents worked 20, 30, 40 years for. I wish that high school had a course in common sense, hard work and patience.
So sad to hear about the Altizer family. Didn’t know them personally but had seen the name around town. Words can’t express the feelings I am having at this tragic news. My sincere condolences to the families. My heart aches for you.
Harper wants to raise the retirement age (eventually) to about 67. Wow! A politician who can see past the next election. Whether he wins the next election or not is a moot point. Stephen Harper must read the same newspaper articles I do about the finances in the country of Greece.
Taxman–last I heard the gas stations don’t make any money selling gas? Except in PG of course!! Gas is less in Victoria…free ferry transport and all. Go figure.
Stats Canada is reporting Canada’s population up by 6%, when that spills over into SD 57 I wonder how many millions more in school taxes we will have to pay to rebuild those closed and sold schools in SD57?
charles, the article you posted a link to is written for an American church. The Trumpet is the Philadelphia Trumpet, associated with the Church of God. I read the article you linked above and thought, whoa, fear mongering at its best.
I just want the rest of the readers who saw charles’ post to realize where the article was coming from. There are some valid points but all the articles I read, written by Robert Morley of The Trumpet, are alarmist, fear mongering types of articles. Remember to take most of the information availabe online with a grain of salt.
Watch out for the CN 4 foot high, 6 foot wide super cop on river road. Does the CN donut eaters get to keep the fines?
Stephen Harper gave a couple hundred million dollars to our local mills and lowered corporate taxes…..probably more than enough to cover retirements at 65?? If you restored taxes to historical levels.
Saw on the CBC a cop was docked ten days pay for having sex on the job, a sgt at that. So they are very busy and dont have the time to look after the texting and driving people.
Cheers
Anybody hear of what ever happened to the criminal that was suppose to be deported out of the country.Never saw or heard of anything happening. Just curious.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2012/02/08/bc-first-nation-meters.html – A quote from this article;
“BC Hydro says it won’t force the technology on customers if they oppose â at least for now â and will work with concerned customers” – now do you think they will honor this? Or is this another lie? I am going to find out because I got my notice today and I am going to phone them and tell them I am opposing the installation of one on my property.
If people started using Bluetooth handsfree devices like BlueStar 2010 and Parrot, there would not be any safety concerns.

Just maybe if we give China a few Dollars they keep Harper ?
Just maybe if we give China a few Dollars they keep Harper ?
Outwest- you are too late- Harper has already been bought and paid for by the Chinese.
I drive to and from work everyday down Domano and Ospika. Everyday I have encounters with drivers that insist upon driving like MORONS. Yesterday was really special. You know who you are and should realise that if you keep driving like a …hole you will eventually pay the price. Especially if you keep taking my life in your hands!
The first MORON in the morning in a black pickup was one of our cities finest Firemen. The other was on my way home. Another MORON in a white pickup that lives up in St Lawrence.
Have some respect for others on the road you compete idiots!
No way, Thanks for that link to you tube. I agree it should be shown to ev 1 when you buy a cell phone, or how about when they get their drivers licence.
Dragonmaster We have one that comes out the Hart Highlands down Foothills to 15th every morning driving a Honda pickup, weaving in and out of traffic no signal lights cuts people off and drives around 40k over the limit. Usually catch up to him at the lights
Why don’t you take thier plate number and video tape them if it is a regular occurance. Video tape is a good deterent and good proof for the cops.
Yeah you just gotta love those aspiring gymkana competitors who seem to be on a mission as they weave through traffic, usually without signalling. I suppose absolutely every other driver in their vicinity knows they are coming and is watching for them so as not to make any sudden lane changes, how else could they perform their daring and impressive manoeuvres without causing an accident?
The really talented ones are those who can text while weaving (oh, maybe that’s why they don’t usually signal?)
metalman.

Why isn’t this front page news everywhere?!
Sleazy Harper.
Sorry, have to copy/paste above to browser.
And…

Sleazy Harper.
See the Harper bashers are out in force, anyone got an alternative? Oh Canada’s economy is quite stable considering the majority of world, imagine that.
Wildlife story
Yesterday while logging in the Bear lake area two loggers noticed a bear run away from a tree where the mother bear had denne for the winter. These two men kept watch to see if mom would return, she never did so they crawled into the den and found two cubs about two weeks old and nearly frozen. They quickly wrapped the cubs up and brought them to the warmth of a vehicle. They quickly made contact with Northern Lights Wildlife Society in Smithers. Angelika drove to PG to pick up the cubs and drove back to Smithers 14 hours round trip.
To Angelika your commitment and dedication should be an inspiration to all
To the Loggers, I hope the stewardship of our forest you have shown does not go unrewarded, You have my thanks and respect
As for the kind hearted loggers;
I have no doubt that the sow would have returned once the loggers quit the area.
Strictly an opinion.
metalman.
We all know the saying, …. rises to the top and it is not cream. Campbell is now called his Excellency, amazing.
To all the Harper bashers. Isnt it absolutely amazing what Harper has been able to do.
His first two stints was a minority Government so he couldnt do much. He has only had a majority for a year and it seems he gets blamed for everything from Communist China, to Isreal, et al.
Fact of the matter is most of the BS out there was caused by the previous Liberal Government. How soon we forget.
Ramble on to your hearts content, as Harper will be around for a minimum of 4 more years, and quite possibly for the next 9 years.
Have a nice day.
Dragonmaster, more of your useless drivel. Nice touch though putting ‘the cities finest’. Must be tough being so righteous and perfect. You’re probably one of those guys that drives in the left lane and blocks traffic. I’m sure the “morons “. Wouldn’t have to weave in and out of traffic if people would simply stay to the right except to pass….
Number4 says”stay to the right except to pass”.What if you need to make a left turn somwhere along your trip, should one stay in the right hand lane and simply swing across a lane of traffic in the left hand lane when there turn comes up.Some people stay in the left hand lane as the know a lot of assholes in this town won’t let you over into there lane if you need to switch lanes when your turn comes up.Just another perspective on why some people drive in the left hand lane, that so many people think is reserved for those willing to drive at mach speed.
Ya you morons can keep on weavin, when I`m driving up or down the Hart I`m usually following the flow,so I`m speeding already…You know what needs to happen here is the traffic division`s got to stop giving that 10kmh grace, after all you don`t get that 10kmh in school zones you shouldn`t get it anywhere else.@jakeadoo,your right driving up the Hart I`m always in the left so if your in a hurry to get home after work, better ask your boss if you can leave early…
Oh looky the Friday free for all is a Saturday free for all.
Hey number4, was that you in the black pickup? Maybe I’ll keep a look out for you this coming week.
We should meet for coffee, I’m buying.
Then you can flap your “not yet” fat lips to my face instead of hiding behind your keyboard.
If you knew the rules of the road Einstein you’d see your comments are the only drivel here.
