Signs posted along Wright Creek Road, to protest the delivery of bio-solids to a neighbouring farm

Prince George, B.C- The signs send a message, bio-solids are not welcome on Wright Creek road, but despite that sentiment, the bio solids will be delivered later this morning.

While many residents in the area remain opposed to bio solids being delivered to a neighbouring farm, the City of Prince George has sought, and been granted, legal standing to pave the way for the delivery.

The City filed a Notice of Civil Claim in B.C. Supreme Court earlier this month and protester Andy Angele was served with the Notice along with a letter from the City’s legal counsel. The letter advised that the bio solids delivery would start today, and the City would seek a court injunction to remove any future blockades.

Angele was one of several people who set up a blockade in early December. The first truck that was to deliver bio solids, was turned back without incident. At that time, the City did not seek legal action as there was space at the City’s sewage treatment facility to store the bio solids. That space is now in dwindling supply.

Angele won’t say if he plans to be at the intersection of Highway 97 and Wright Creek road this morning, saying only that he has heard there are some who would like to be there, but cannot say for certain if those people plan to set up a blockade.

The City has a contract with the Arnett Ranch to deliver the bio solids for use as a fertilizer.

Angele and many neighbours are concerned the bio solids could leach chemicals into the groundwater, an event the City’s consulting firm (Sylvus) says will not happen.

Sludge like garbage needs a long term solution. The City is taking the line of least resistance by dumping this S..t on private property, such as farms, etc;

They need to do more to solve these types of problems. What the hell are we paying them for???

People do not have the resources to argue with this City. Especially when they threaten them with legal action. Its time the City took a leadership role in Prince George, and took some of their responsibilities seriously.

Dumping S..t willy nilly around the greater Prince George area is not a solution to the problem. If anything it makes things worse.

Spend a little more money and do the job right.

Letter to the editor this AM in the Citizen concerning this issue. Seems the letter writer is sympathetic to Andy’s plight. Insofar as suggesting some people should help block the road. Shouldn’t he be arrested and charged with “conspiracy to commit?” Isn’t it a crime to block a road? ( unless yer a First Nations). Besides, in this town, what’s the most a judge can do? ONE day in jail and eighteen months probation? I say go for it. Sure hope Vic doesn’t know who I am.

I agree with Palopu 100%. I had hoped that with a new mayor we might stand a chance of being listened to. Not so
I wish I could be with the people standing out there today. Wish them luck.
We here on Patterson Rd. are waiting to see what the Spring runoff will bring from what was dumped here.
