Prince George, B.C. – One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97,  15 kilometres north of Quesnel this morning.

Constable Krista Vrolyk with the Quesnel RCMP detachment says the collision between a commercial transport truck and a passenger vehicle occurred at about 9:45 this morning.   She says one person was deceased at the scene.   Other injuries are unknown at this time.

The accident has closed the highway 5.5 kilometres north of the junction with Highway 26 in Quesnel.   The estimated time of opening is 4 this afternoon. North and southbound traffic is being detoured around the accident site.

Quesnel RCMP are advising motorists to drive with extreme caution with properly equipped vehicles as the snow continues to fall on the central interior.
