Local Project Gets $2 Million
Prince George, B.C. – The Provincial Ministry of the Environment is pumping $2 million dollars into the Prince George based Carbon Offset Aggregation Cooperative.
The money will be used to help heavy machinery companies install special computer technoliogy in their vehicles and train the operators to reduce fuel consumption. The technology will collect data to show how the vehicle is being operated, for example, left idling too long, if the driver steps on and off the gas pedal or is using any other operating methods that waste fuel.
It is also estimated one truck operating for 250 days a year, can use up to 300 litres of fuel per day and will emit about 200 tonnes of carbon each year. If 100 vehicles are retrofitted with the technology each month, it could mean there would be a reduction of about 13,400 tonnes of ghg’s over the first threeyears. With every 1,000 litres of fuel saved, about three tonnes of of carbon dioxide will be diverted from the atmosphere.
It’s estimated there are 88 thousand pieces of heavy equipment operating in B.C., that includes semi trucks. Under this program, owner/operators can expect to save 10-15% in fuel costs in a year. That’s more than enough to offset the cost of the installation of the equipment and the green house gas emissions are also greatly reduced. Company owners will be allowed to sell the carbon offsets to companies needing them.

Another carbon scam that costs taxpayers 2 mill. It seems if you can use the term carbon and through a bunch of random numbers at the environment ministry, they give you money so they can then tell everyone how much they are doing for the environment. I think someone just came up with a publicly funded way to keep a closer eye on employees to make sure they get what they pay for. I sure hope they install these things in city vehicles so all the idling city vehicles and shutoff times when sitting at the end of cul de sacs are monitored. Maybe then it might actually save some money if these employees of the city have to start explaining a few downtimes or why thier equip was idling for 1/2 hr at a time.
I think their calculations are all funny… 200 tons of carbon a year? On 300 liters of fuel a day for 250 days?
Lets see, the atmosphere contains .004% carbon dioxide which is a plant fertilizer. Of that .004%, 4% is mans contribution. Of that 4% Canada’s contribution is about 3%. So see 2 million for what. Also it is questionable just how much so called effect C02 has if any at all and that is after hundreds of billions have been spent.
Here one way that Gore has made 300 plus million-Representatives of the conservative think tank National Center for Public Policy Research — which holds shares in Apple — said the consumer electronics giantâs board should investigate whether Gore had influenced the companyâs decision in 2009 to leave the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
âWe are concerned that Appleâs policy on greenhouse gas regulations was developed to personally benefit a board member in violation of the Companyâs Business Conduct Policy,â read the groupâs claim, emailed to shareholders prior to the meeting and labeled âProposal No. 4.â The group alleged that Goreâs personal portfolio of energy and green-industry stocks stood to gain if the global warming policies he advocates become law.

“Lets see, the atmosphere contains .004% carbon dioxide which is a plant fertilizer.”
You know, if one were to display a bit of better knowledge of orders of magnitude with respect to measurables, it would be easier to follow an argument. But when one strats off with an order of magnitude error of around 10, it does not show much for credibility and certainly does not cause someone to want to continue the remainder of the argument because that too is likely to continue such errors.
The CO2 in the atmospehere is around 0.04% not 0.004%. Check it out.
Gus oops you are so right accidentally added a zero, exuuuse me, and yes that does put the magnitude out but not the relationship. Have you heard of fakegate, I suggest you bone up. Here is a hint http://wattsupwiththat.com/ oh another one by a Canadian http://climateaudit.org/
Another site by another Canadian, read her book A Delinquent Teenager, which rips the IPCC apart
You really have to broaden your horizons.
“I think their calculations are all funny… 200 tons of carbon a year? On 300 liters of fuel a day for 250 days?”
1. 1 Kg of fuel generates about 3.15 Kg of CO2.
2. Diesel has a range of densities between about 0.83 and 0.94. So lets assume we use a grade of diesel that weighs 0.9 Kg/litre.
3. 300 litres per day then becomes 270 Kg of fuel/day
4. for 250 days that is 67,500Kg of fuel burned
5. 67.500 X 3.15 = 212,625 Kg = 212.6 Tonnes CO2
Reduce the senity of diesel and you have the 200 tonnes.
I do not see anything funny about the info.
Thus a litre of diesel fuel weighs in the order of 0.90has different densities
Seamutt. Open your eyes. You are so blinded whenever you see the word greenhouse gas, CO2 or anything associated with it.
Please read the following:
“Under this program, owner/operators can expect to save 10-15% in fuel costs in a year”
Forget the greenhouse gas chit. Save the bloody fuel!!!
You don’t believe in efficiency either ?????
Ah yes efficiency is great, but when C02 is brought into the picture I smell a money grabbing scam. C02 and climate change are the money grabbers. There is middle men making money here, and for what?
I’ll take a million $ too, it’ll save me 10-15% on fuel costs and I don’t have to pay for it!! Hel of a deal!!
