Snowfall Warning in Effect for Prince George

Friday, February 24, 2012 @ 1:21 PM

Prince George, B.C. –  Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Prince George and areas throughout the central interior.  10 cm of snow can be expected through this evening, and a full  15-25 centimers by early tomorrow in other areas.

An intense Pacific frontal system moving across the province has spread snow to much of the interior.

Total snowfall amounts are forecast to be near 10 cm today over the central interior and near 15 cm tonight over the B.C. South Peace River.

Higher accumulations are anticipated over the Kootenay and Columbia districts where total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected by early Saturday morning.

The snow will ease Saturday morning as the weather system moves away from the area.

Hey, it’s the weekend. Weekends in PG mean significant snowfalls just so that we are reminded of how to drive in snow without it all being cleared away within 12 hours …

Since when did 10cm of snow require a warning in northern BC or even most of Canada for that matter. Barely enough to cover your shoes… lol

Let’s wait to hear that with this snow fall, the city has expended its entire snow removal budget for the year already!

This will be great for the Pineview Snow Frolics, which are on this saturday and sunday, we needed some more snow.

LOL. We just had a nice 20-30 cm dump here in Ottawa that started this afternoon. Got home, shovelled the driveway and headed out to grab some dinner. The plows were already out and the sidewalks were also fully cleared on the major streets. Our side street will be done by this time tomorrow for sure.

Can’t wait for Spring!
