Prince George, BC –  RCMP say a commercial truck driver from Alberta was killed in a single vehicle crash just south of Boston Bar that closed the highway through the Fraser Canyon for seven hours last night…

Boston Bar RCMP and Volunteer Fire Service, Hope Search and Rescue, and Fraser Valley Traffic Services responded to the crash which occurred on Highway One, approximately five-kilometres south of Boston Bar just after 4pm yesterday afternoon.

RCMP Sergeant Peter Thiessen says it appears the driver lost control of his tractor and trailer unit while rounding a corner – road conditions were slippery with slushy snow and poor visibility at the time.  The southbound commercial truck crossed over the northbound land and struck a power pole before continuing into a steep ditch and landing on the driver’s side. 

The 47-year-old man from Myrnam, Alberta was pronounced dead at the scene.  Any witnesses who may have information on this crash and have not spoken to the RCMP are asked to contact Fraser Valley Traffic Services at 604-702-4039.
