Prince George, BC – It’s a special day for Sacred Heart School…

As was announced earlier this month, the 63-year-old elementary school has been named this year’s recipient of the City Heritage Commission’s ‘Historic Places’ Award.

Earlier today, School Principal, Sister Irene Baker, was presented with a plaque to commemorate the honour by Commission Vice-Chair Ranjit Gill (left) and member Dr. Valerie Giles (right) at the Exploration Place.

Local MLA, Shirley Bond, also presented a proclamation on behalf of the provincial government recognizing the school’s unique status as the oldest elementary school in the city.

And the recognition will continue at this evening’s gala fundraiser for independent school at the Ramada Inn.
