Close To $10K Raised For Burns Lake Tragedy Fund
Joël Kress and her band, Sound Addiction, headlined Friday night’s fundraiser
Prince George, BC – One person can make a big difference…especially if that person has a lot of friends…
A Prince George fundraiser to benefit the workers and families affected by the Burns Lake mill tragedy raised just under $10-thousand dollars on Friday evening.
It was an effort undertaken by local singer, Joël Kress, and she’s thrilled the evening was so successful. Those in attendance were treated to performances by dancers with Zahirah’s bellydancing troupe, live music headlined by Kress’ band, Sound Addiction, and a silent auction.
Kress credits numerous friends who helped her out behind the scenes, including Mike McGuire who secured use of the Kinsmen Hall, and Carrier Sekani Tribal Council Chief, David Luggi, for contacting the Vancouver Canucks organization, which donated a signed Manny Malhotra jersey. That jersey sold for $705.
She’s also thankful to the many businesses, both local and across the region, who donated items for the auction.

I hope the proceeds go directly to the families that were directly impacted . . . not to offload the province from THEIR role of paying for hospital equipment.
