Gas Price Jumps at One P.G. Station
Price Hike , will others follow?
Prince George, B.C.- While the price of a litre of regular gas remains at $1.289 at most gas stations in Prince George, the Chevron on the Hart has boosted the price by 6 cents a litre.
The Chevron ( at Northwood Pulpmill Road) is selling a litre of regular for $1.349.
The impact of that sign is showing at other gas stations as people worried it is an omen of a price hike on the horizon, fill up their tanks with what suddenly seems like a bargain at $1.289.
The Chevron on the Hart is the only gas station Opinion250 could find in Prince George which has boosted its price.
It is interesting to note that last year, on February 25th, Prince George motorists were paying $1.159 per litre, and overnight it jumped to $1.239 because of the crisis in Libya.

So remember who is trying to gouge you first. So stop buying gas from all Chevron stations.
Its now 139.9 all over the city and at this Chevron location is now 145.9 !
Was that the new gasoline price from Monday’s fuel truck, or was that price on the existing gasoline that was under the ground since the last fill? Shouldn’t the service station sell all of the gasoline they already have underground first at the cheaper price? Extra profit on the gas they already bought cheaper earlier? Just wunderin’.
Whats the excuse now, the price of crude has actually gone down since gas went up to 129.9. Has it gone up all over Canada or just in pg.
Chevron and Esso are the worst for being the first to raise thier rates and the last to drop them. I haven’t bought gas at either of them for a long time even though the closest station to where I live is an Esso.
Looks like the beginning of the end for most now. Everyone should be bankrupted by the end of summer this year. Oh well look on the bright side. Should help stem the flow of everyones cash into the MADE IN CHINA economy. Should help stop people from wasting thier money on all this garbage. Should be lots a cheap V8 pickups for sale soon as everyone that has those for sale takes a loss on that. Should do us all a lot of good. LOL. Soon everyone is going to have NO MONEY for ANYTHING.
Stop buying gas at Chevron!!
Well I just bought gas for 1.28. So I doubt it’s 1.39 all over the city.
Stop voting for Harper. Canada needs a national energy policy that puts Canadians first and windfall oil profits somewhere else.
The price of gas today is exactly why Gateway should never be approved so long as Canada doesn’t have a national energy policy to protect Canadian interest.
Nobody owes you cheap gas. It is up to YOU to reduce your dependance. Step up, shut up and pay up.
What about those who depend on having to use gas for work…are they to reduce as well? If you just drive for a luxury or entertainment maybe. Not everyone has that ability to reduce.
And by the way…we ARE owed cheap gas because it comes out of OUR ground. If the govt would clamp down on gouging and bring in a NEP maybe things would be the way it should be.
Gouging thieves!
Esso is owned by Exxon Mobile who has yet to finish paying for or cleaning up their spill from the Exxon Valdez disaster.
Petro Canada used to be a Canadian crown corporation until it was acquired by Suncor of Alberta which is a subsidiary of Sunoco, an American company.
Contrary to Mexico, which nationalized all the industry involved with oil, exploration, refining and sales – (the Mexcican people own the business Pemex, Petroleos Mexicanos since 1938) Canada’s oil industry is owned by foreigners.
If we are at their mercy, whose fault is that?
Nobody is mentioning the fact that tax represents about 50% of the cost of our fuel. Why not get government to reduce the amount of tax on fuel when prices get out of hand like this? They actually stand to gain the most. Don’t they?
“If we are at their mercy, whose fault is that?
The citizens of Canada for actually allowing our gov’t to sell us out!
It’s time to put an end to it!
Carbon tax for what? That could lower the price 5.5 cents right now. This is not in defense of oil companies but over a year Exxon made a profit of 10 billion on an operating expenditure of 100 billion. Apple made a profit of 13 billion in three months!
Yes Eagleone let’s stop voting Harper and vote for the Liberals who wanted to bring in a country wide carbon tax. You’re a genius.
Still lots of full size trucks passing me on the highway, puttin’ along at the speed limit. I guess the time they save makes up for the extra fuel consumption, I don’t know. Makes me wonder when I end up in the same crowd at the next intersection, waiting for the light to change.
metalman.
What needs to happen is someone needs to set a date to stay home from work. If everyone in BC or Canada stayed home on the same day from work (booked off called in sick) whatever, the govt loss of revenue would be huge.
They would think twicwe before they screwed us again.
134.9 college heights chevron and esso as well as at chevron at 15th and central
Stay away from Chevron, they were the first on the Hart
The rumor is gas will be 170.9 by mid summer, they are just warming us up to the rumor. 134.9 = $6.13 per Imperial gallon, $5.10 per US gallon and the Americans are worried they are going to hit $4.00. Robbed in BC and the rest of Canada. More like taxed to death.
Oh by the way this will be great for tourism. Watch the decline in American visitors.
acrider:”Stay away from Chevron, they were the first on the Hart.”
My car runs best with Chevron gas. Quite a difference! Tried the discount gasoline that doesn’t have Techron in it. It’s not up to snuff!
Gotta do what’s best for my chariot!
Never had a problem with Husky or Mohawk fuel myself. But true you have to look after the chariot.
Your serious- Your car runs best on Chevron gas?!! What do you drive, a Indy race car?!
Does that mean it will run worse on somebody else’s gas and what do you do if you are running low on gas in a town without a Chevron gas station?
Well then be my guest, and make sure you support the gas company in town that will raise their prices the quickest. I won’t.
How do you know it runs better? Does it miss a fart when you use other gas? Personally my vehicle runs the same regardless of what gas I put in, whether it be reg or premium, with techron, without techron. Makes no difference. And even if there was a small difference it wouldn’t be enough for me to want to support the biggest gougers in town.
Gas is still 128.9 at the Canadian Tire as of 8am this morning.
In P.G.chevron and huskey gas and a number of other brands are the same base gas from the huskey refinery. The only dif.is the additive that the driver programs in when loading.
But: excuse me??!! Oil comes from YOUR ground????? You need an attitude adjustment. I wasn’t aware you owned all of Canada. If you even own property at all, you own revokable surface rights. ONLY. The sooner you stop thinking you somehow own everything in Canada, the sooner life will make sense. You own jack. You have ZERO say about oil and its price. Step up, shut up and pay up. Tired of paying to drive to work? Move within biking/walking distance. Thats what people in every major city worldwide are doing. Driving to work is NOT a birthright. In any country.
Have you ever tried biking or walking anywhere in this town gamblor? Neither activity is conducive to living long.
You need to come up with a workable solution. This ain’t Victoria.
Gamblor this isn’t Vancouver where you have all the alternative transportation that you don’t even need a vehicle.Last time I checked a bus doesn’t stop anywhere near my work place in the BC Rail Industrial site and nobody lives close to me in order to carpool. So my advice to you gamblor is step off, shut up and quit being such a corporate and government suck up.Everyone all over the world is trying to change how they are being treated by the big bullies of government and corporations and it has yet to happen in this country of any magnitude. So if people want to vent a little about being gouged by the corporate elite,by all means go for it.
Thumbs up to jakeadoo good post
We have a climate now where government involvement in anything is evil and the private sector can do no wrong. So there you have it, let them run with it. I’m sure they will look out for your best interests.
Gamblor…who do you think owns Canada? Or should I say, who do you THINK should own Canada and it’s minerals, on top or under the ground. The people who live here is who. If we were using OUR resources for OUR best interests then I doubt we would have to worry if a hurricane hit the gulf of mexico and see our gas shoot up 10 cents/litre. The only reason that can happen is because of the greed of the oil companies and the crooks in office who get bought out to let it happen. Why don’t we have our own energy policy? Because then we would have to stick to it and it would be Canadians first and greedy oil companies second. If the greedy oil companies don’t like it, let them go somewhere else to get thier oil. I am sure there are plenty of Canadian companies willing to step up to the plate as soon as the playing field levels out.
Chevron is the only fuel in town that sells 94 octane. And yes, techron eliminates the engine knock, gives better mileage and more power. Mowhawk has alcohol in their fuel, which is corrosive to hoses and rubber. I have a 1965 vehicle that will barely run on 89 octane. I can burn the tires off with Chevron 94. The engine was designed for 100 octane but these shitty governments will not allow us to buy proper fuel for our classic cars. In the UK they will sell you tetraethyl lead to add to your fuel if you have a classic car. That will boost your actane to about 110 if you use the proper amount, which is very very little.
But, you are 1000000% right!
