One In Custody In Weekend Stabbing

Prince George, B.C. – RCMP in Prince George plan to release more information today on the stabbing of an 18-year-old male on Upland Street over the weekend.

One person remains in police custody in connection with the assault in an apartment on Upland Street around 2:30 Saturday morning. Six males were in the suite when the stabbing occurred.   The victim made his way out into the street, where he was found by police and ambulance attendants. He was rushed to University Hospital with what were described by police as life-threatening injuries. The victim underwent surgery Saturday morning and hospital officials later said they expected the teen would make a full recovery. He is reportedly doing well at hospital.

There is no indication where on his body the victim was stabbed, the number of times he was stabbed, or whether a weapon was recovered by police.

The other five males who were in the apartment at the time were located elsewhere, with the assistant of a police service dog, shortly after the attack. A police spokesperson said Saturday morning that investigators believed they had identified the person responsible for the stabbing. Police on Sunday would not say whether charges had been laid in the case.
