The Demonstration walk snakes its way west on 15th Avenue
Prince George, B.C.- Hundreds of teachers and their supporters were pounding the pavement before the lunch hour today, on a demonstration walk.
The walk started at Parkwood Place and made it’s way west on 15th to highway 97.
Teachers will rally again this evening at the Civic Centre Plaza. Tomorrow, they are expected to be back in the classroom for one day, and then on Friday, in SD57, it is a non instructional day so once again there will be no classes.
Teachers are allowed to strike again on Monday, although the BCTF has not indicated if it will exercise that right as most school districts in the province ( not SD57) will start March break next week. For SD57, the break doesn’t start until the 19th.
Education Minister George Abbott has indicated he expects Bill 22 to become law by then end of next week.

On Thursday 54 union members will call in sick claiming they had a “slip or fall” incident during the march.
The teachers’ manipulation of the students into ‘protesting by walking out of class’ last week was deplorable – sponging up young minds to meet the political objective of the BCTF.
There is no limit to the personal greed of the individual teachers, and the collective greed of the BCTF.
Try spending a year, or 10, or 20 in the reality of the real economy – if you stand above the norm, you get rewarded. If you under-perform, you get put on notice. If you’re a complete FU, you get fired.
Live with it, and stop holding our childen, and an important (read essential) service hostage for your own gain.
Especially when you can fire a cannon through most schools at 3:00 pm and not hit a teacher, and on ‘Pro-D’ days most teachers are snoozing until noon, and they (the teachers) are lounging about from the third week of June until the first week of September.
Get back to ‘work’ and be suprised that anyone is stupid enough to hire you in the first place.

Rocky, sorry, but you have issues that you need help with. You present a sense of a former student who was bullied and could not get help b/c the school school system could not get get to you. Please get some help for your anger.

Those who don’t agree with this strike are usually uneducated sloth.
Totally support the teachers in their protest against government bully tactics. Being able to withdraw services is a fundamental right if the employer refuses to bargain.
Those who spout tired old cliches about teachers can’t teach or do, so they just re-hash the wise words of others. Nice work, man.
It always amazes me when people like Rocky post about the manipulation of students, when in reality those students have their own minds and make their own decisions.
I applaud the students for taking an interest in the issue, and I hope their interest continues into following the political happenings of our province well into the future.
Jim, classroom indoctrination is not about free minds. I posted an example of a grade 1 student making pro – teacher signs at home. Now I suppose to you that means a free young mind following her beliefs. Grade ones are notorious for their individuality and political acumen.
