Prince George, B.C.- Spruce Kings forward Paul De Jersey has been named the Most Valuable Player for the Interior Division of the BCHL. The Vern Dye Memorial MVP Trophy is awarded annually following a survey of BCHL coaches and executives.

The MVP recognition comes just days after the three year veteran of the BCHL had his best season of junior hockey playing with the Prince George Spruce Kings. Through 59 games, De Jersey finished with 41 goals and 57 assists.
His 98 points earned the 19 year forward the Brett Hull Trophy awarded to the League’s regular season scoring leader.

"For me to be the recipient of this award … I am absolutely humbled," said De Jersey. "Looking back on previous winners of this trophy, I see classy and unbelievable players."

"My whole year, from start to finish, has been a remarkable journey," continued De Jersey. "Though lots of hard work and dedication went in to this season, I must thank the Spruce Kings for giving me the opportunity to shine. I’m truly grateful for this season."

De Jersey and his team mates are working on keeping that shine going through the post season as the Spruce Kings prepare now to face the Merritt Centennials in the first round of the BCHL Playoffs beginning on Friday March 16th.
