Prince George, B.C. – A letter has gone out to all members of the Prince George branch of the Royal Canadian Legion advising them of a special membership meeting later this month to discuss the possible sale of the legion building and lot on 7th Avenue.
The letter advises members that they will be asked to vote on the following resolution:
That Branch 43 of the Royal Canadian Legion approves entering into a Contract of Purchase and Sale of Commercial Real Estate for sale and conveyance of Branch lands and building located at 1335 7th Avenue, Prince George.
If passed the resolution would authorize the Branch to accept an offer of $650,000 from Art Collins and Vern Norbratten to purchase the lot and building or if that offer fails, to accept any other reasonably equivalent offer. It would enable the Branch to retire its existing loan and mortgage. It would also allow the branch to continue operating in the building under lease for up to one year.
The meeting will be held at 7:30pm, Monday March 26th downstairs at the Legion. Quorum for the meeting is 25 voting members and two-thirds of the members present and entitled to vote must vote in favour for the resolution to be adopted.
The letter to the legion members contains the signature of First Vice-President and Acting President Bruce Gabriel.

What exactly does the term “accept any other reasonably equivalent offer” mean?
So $910,000 for air space but only $650,000 for an actual building and land. Me thinks Legion members are getting the shaft.
Who got the shaft?? Air is valuable.
The Legion needs to shut it down. The ordinary members are disappearing and as a club they cant make it.
The Korean Veterans assciation (KVA)had a last Hurrah in Winnipeg in August After 60 years it was time to pack it in,
My membership in the Prince George Legion was never thrilling. It always appeared that making money was more important then a concern for the veteran. In fact they were enthrolled with the idea of being a service club.
