Roll another one,puff,puff,pass….betta now!

Good morning to all of my friends in Prince George! I wish you all a very pleasant weekend.

Stay home and avoid the potholes/craters, and the high price of fuel. If everyone stops driving (except for really important stuff), you will save BIG BUCKS on front end damage on your vehicle, and the world will consider you a little GREEN!

Gas in Alberta is about $1.15 a liter (give or take a nickel) No PST on stuff you buy……….life is awesome!

Time to stop bloat in the federal civil service

Bureaucratic fat is once again being trimmed, just as it was under Jean Chretien – but how did it expand so quickly?

I wonder how our low income families are coping without the promised HST rebates?? Pretty convenient how they forgot them isn’t it?

Seen a man dressing in all black sleeping on the white line of the highway up North of Summit Lake this morning. Thought maybe he’d been hit by a car or something. Apparently he’s a Kevin Falcon guy, says he’s heading up north for the jobs…. He has a long walk ahead of him.

After catching a terrible cold I spent a couple of days watching the BC legislature.
I have no kids and have no connection with the teaching profession, after listening to the induction of Bill 22 I feel that this government has just destroyed the education system it is not obvious now but parents will see the effects of the law next year and unfortunatly so will the children.

Potholes? Whats a pothole? All i ever see around here are huge csr swallowing craters. Did i miss the asteroid show? I am sure glad they missed my house.

“The recent news that the Vancouver Playhouse has closed its doors …… but PG can support one?”

Morning to all joining the Hart 500..see you at the light at 5th and central..lmao

Got some great reading here all the things you wanted to know about crusty and her band of thieves is posted here. Read the UNCENSORED comments section included with every article. Great reading that finally exposes the truth about the most corrupt, heartless, and despised goverment this province has ever seen. It will keep you laughing good although the stories are 100% true. Here you get the real story not some censored garbage like the pg citizen or something. No advertising too.

Soon the lieberals will be gone and the HST extinguished. What a great day that will be.

If the government is expected to do everything for you that you can now no longer afford to do for yourself, and restrain you from doing nearly anything else you could, how could it not expand so quickly?

Just want to point out, there have been some motorcycles seen on the streets of Prince George this week. Please everyone take a few extra seconds and make sure you see us out there. The season is fast approaching and motorcycles will soon be everywhere. Take your attention off your cell phones and put it on your driving. Make the streets safer for everyone using them.

The last time such job trimming was done by the federal government a large number of those who accepted super generous buy-out packages (including qualifying for early pensions!) were back at work – hired as consultants by the departments where they worked before!

The primary reason for the closure of the Vancouver Playhouse was poor management and planning. There are several other playhouses in that region that are thriving, even with reduced funding from government.

@ Harleyguy72

I saw my first bike on the road yesterday and you are right now it’s not only having to watch out for the driving public but you gotta now more than ever watch out for the holes in the roads.

Speaking of the very poor condition of the roads I’ve decided to leave my bike in storage. The roads make it far too dangerous for me to ride.

A question to all the Mario Andretti’s that live down the far end of Malaspina in College Heights.

How is it that when I am 1 block from my street and am doing the speed limit of 50kmh and you are in the middle of the Malaspina Elementary School 30kmh speed zone, (3 blocks away) that you can get to my street before I do?

Malaspina isn’t a race track. It’s a residential area where a lot of children live and play. Use your grey matter if you have any and show some respect to those you live near. Oh ya, and turn down your freakin stereos, you’re disturbing the peace and pissing off your neighbours.

Price to shut McEwen up: $150k+
Price to get elected mayor of PG: $81k+
Price for unneeded assistant for mayor:

The Federal Governments primary objective seems to be to pay lucky individuals between slightly and extrememly inflated salaries in the hopes that they spend their money and positively impact the economy.

Deep cuts are required to balance the formula and reduce taxes OR increase funding to Provinces for education and health care. There is alot of bodies in Ottawa that add no value what so ever to the Canadian taxpayers.

Price to shut McEwen up: $150k+
Price to get elected mayor of PG: $81k+
Price for unneeded assistant for mayor: $0-$75k
Impeachment of green: priceless

Let’s see, How many “playhouses” does Vancouver and the immediate area have?

How many does PG have?

We have TNW, and we have the City owned Playhouse now run under a contract. So we have two. There is one other production company I am aware of – Serious Moonlight Productions – and of course we have Enchainement and Excaliber. And we have parial use of Vanier Hall. Please note, I have not included school auditoriums such as Vanier Hall in the City of Vancouver list.

Here are a few of the City of Vancouver theatres/companies. There are others in the GVRD:
1. Arts Club Theatre Company
2. Carousel Theatre
3. Electric Company
4. Deep Cove Theatre Company
5. Theatre Conspiracy
6. Rumble Productions
7. Instant Theatre Company
8. Stagecoach Theatre Arts (a theatre school that produces and presents)

Some of the above have their own facility, others use spaces based on the production.

Here are some spaces … I am sure there are more … did not include outdoor amphitheatres and regular productions that perfrom under temporary tents, etc. They are, however, only spaces in the City of Vancouver, not the GVRD

The City of Vancouver Civic Theatres
– Orpheum
– Orpheum Annex (145+ seat black box theatre)
– The Queen Elizabeth

Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts
Chan Centre – UBC
Recital Hall – UBC
Waterfront Theatre – Granville Island
Granville Island Stage – Granville Island
Performance Works – Granville Island
Revue Theatre – Granville Island
The Vogue Theatre – South Granville
The Improv Centre – Granville Island
Firehall Arts Centre
Rio Theatre

So, about the Playhouse, jales4, …. what was your point again?

Not a supporter of Green but those that knock having an assistant or, secretary in the olden days, what do you propose? Walk into in office what do you see?

I think that we should all go out and buy a can of bright orange or red spray paint. As we see any bad pot holes we should safley pull over and park. Making sure that we to not block traffic or endanger anyonr including ourself, go and spay a big circle arouind the pothole. The city would soon look so bright and we will help the drivers to see the potholes. REMEMBER TO BE CAREFULL AND DO NOT STOP ANY TRAFFIC FLOW.

Seamutt

To me there are a couple of issues.

1. Clarity – what exactly happened? Is this an ADDITIONAL person on the 5th floor? There was an executive assistant there to work with the Mayor and Councillors as I understand it.

2. No open competitive selection process from what I can read. Patronage anyone?

3. No total cost of the “Mayor’s Office” operations of this one and the previous Mayor and even Kinsley’s. That should be a separate line item in the budget.

No doubt someone will be required. But this is also not 30 years ago. The toys we have these days we go with the exec assistants in our pockets …. there’s an APP for that, as they say … in fact, a whole ton of apps.

The “take a note please” days have long been taken over by direct e-mail correspondence.

I think thegrump has a very good suggestion …. its primary purpose is SAFETY … which the City really does not think about.

Didn’t green just say not too long ago that the city couldn’t afford the $90k or so it would cost per year to make expenses better detailed and available for the public? Maybe her NEW assistant could find the time to do that now.

So Christy Clarke Campbell has a pit bull lawyer running around with her, to keep those media chihuahua’s from asking those pesky questions. I wonder how much she costs? She won’t be able to protect you at the next election. Eventually Christy you will have to answer those tough questions.
Miss Mayor:
Is there going to be enough money in the budget for paint on the roads. You know the yellow imaginary border that tells the on coming grand pre to stay on there own side.

Hey hammy check this out. She’s a gonna haz to answer for all that’s posted there too. I saw many stores on there that I never saw before, certainly not here or on any MSM. All the facts are presented all about the corruption and outright arrogance of the liberals during the last decade. This site has been growing very fast as people tune into it. Some really unbelievable things posted there of which all can be verified. Facts about this goverment they certainly do not want you to see. But its open season on the libs there and all UNCENSORED. The comments boards are both extremely funny and also UNCENSORED. Check it out and pass it on as much as possible to other sites.

Gus, why say something in 100 words that you can say in 1000 words. Boring, boring.

Anything else you want to get off your chest this morning, retired 02? Go for it! ;-)

oops … retired senior ….. too many retireds on here ….

You know, with using 1,000 words instead of 100, I have noticed that the ” ” key is starting to stick. To unny! …

What the heck has been going on in PG since I left? Did they slip something into the water in addition to the fluoride? LOL.

Good luck folks!

Good sport gus. Oh one thing, never too many seniors on here:-)

Just a friendly suggestion to Meisner.

Could you please talk closer to the mike on your AM show please. Callers and guests can be heard fine. I do not know if you require a new mike or needs adjustment or you are moving back and forth when you talk.

Thanks :)

7:35am the sidewalk is an icy slope, no sand or gravel. (Whose bright idea to have slopes on sidewalks? It still turns to ice and now the sidewalk is even more dangerous.)

8:35am the sidewalk has been sanded

10:00am City sweeper is out sweeping the gravel off the wet sidewalk.

The snow from the snow bank is melting onto the sidewalk and tonight it will freeze again. Would it not be better to leave the gravel on the sidewalk for a couple of weeks?

I love the idea of marking the potholes with paint, make the roads very colourful in this drab season. But I have one question, could I be charged with vandalizing? I have a great idea lets give the taggers bright paint and let them have fun.

I don’t believe there is enough orange paint in PG to accomplish marking all the potholes. You may need to put in a special order.

Okay I see Greens personal assistant is not a replacement but an addition. The earlier report I saw on this made it out to be a replacement.

Gus apps and email only increased my workload. No way to get out of touch anymore.

Let’s not forget the AAP in progress for the River road dike. Log on to the city website, print the forms, sign and mail them to city hall. Print some extra forms and pass them on to your neighbours also. It is our chance to force the dike expenditure to go to referendum and stop this unnecessary waste of taxpayer money.

Some guy in the US was arrested for filling/repairing one of his city’s pot holes. Never did find how he made out. Best you not mess with city property lest you be arrested. Akin to altering a curb in front of yer house or moving a stop sign? Read the Free Press today. It has the route good ol’ Rick is gonna take while in our city. Wouldn’t it be terrible if he hit one of our famous pot holes and fell out of his wheelchair after going all around the world. That sure would put us on the map for a while. Maybe the city has the boys out all weekend on OT patching his route.

gus

You forgot the best funded theater troupe in town The Hicksville Puppet Theater on Patricia Blvd. It has a second location to serve you better on 1st Ave although the same puppet master pulls the strings in both locations.

Good one lonesome sparrow!! Ha, ha, you sure got me laughing at that one but how true!

This has been a great day for humour on this site. Gus even remembered me today, in error its so wonderful

Saw a big blurb in the Free Press by Mr Allen. He has so proudly told us that “we beat the HST so its in our power to defeat this APP vote.”

There was one big difference with the HST vote it involved a lot of people and there was no end to the number of meetings that were held. My advice to Mr Allen is that he will have to get off his butt and start to organize a campaign with a bit more energy.

And you cant go down to the farmers market sit on your butt and garner a couple hundred votes it will take much bigger effort. Even with the applications on the City website. It would take a door to door vote collection to make a difference.

Seriously , to ALL you drivers out there who do not get it, stay back from the vehicle in front of you. Especially a motorcycle . You weight in at a minimum of 3 times what we do. If you hit one of us , even a bump , it is not a simple scratch or minor dent . It could mean serious injury !!! Tailgating anyone is stupid enough but a motorcycle is worse. Remember if you hurt or kill someone ,you WILL have to live with that for the rest of your life. Billyinpg , I would rather dodge the potholes on my bike than in my truck. Way easier to get through a narrow path on 2 wheels than 4 . As long as they are not these super large ones surrounded in gravel.

I saw at least 3 other motorcycles out there today ,so for those of you who are less aware ,please start paying more attention .We might be bikers but we hurt , bleed and die like everyone else, and we all have families we want to see again.

In general I agree with HarleyGuy’s thoughts about tailgating. But I have been stuck behind people who drive approx. 30 km/h through the streets of our fair City? What am I to do then? If I went any slower, I’d be going backwards. Just a thought.

Dragonmaster thank you for bringing up the speeding down Malaspina. The portion that is particularly problematic is between the start of the Malaspina Ridge neighbourhood past Malaspina Elementary school. Yes, Johnnybelt, you need to go 30 K through that area. It’s only a matter of time before there is someone hit along there. Most of the speeders seem to either live in the Malaspina Ridge area or work in there. Trucks whiz by between 4:30 and 5:30 during the week. You won’t think 30 K is too slow once you’ve hit a child with your vehicle.

Also, the cell phone ban just doesn’t seem to be making a difference. Noticed a BC Hydro driver yesterday, moms in vans many times.

Trueblue, I wasn’t talking about school zones or Malaspina for that matter, I was talking the general streets where the speed limit is 50 km/h for the most part.

There are people who just drive painfully slow, when it’s completely unneccessary and dangerous to boot.

Attention Seniors;
Purchased a burial plot from city, 1 coffin or 6 cremated remains. 4 of cremated plots full, now informed by city that I have to repurchase the remaining 2.Like buying a car with 2 seats, but before using the second seat, it has to be paid for again.
Who came up with this rule??and why isn’t the public informed?? Talk about double dipping. Buyer beware

I dont see any comparison between the HST and an AAP petition. Firstly the HST had a few leaders ie; Bill Vanderzalm, and Chris Delaney. In additon they had groups of volunteers in every riding in BC. This issue effected every taxpayer in the Province, and the thrust was against the BC Liberal Government for bringing in a tax that they stated they would not.

The AAP on the other hand is specific to borrowing $3.50 Million dollars as part of the Citys cost to build a dike on river road. The AAP is in effect a **reverse onus petition** that in effect states that if you do not sign the petition stating that you are opposed to the borrowing, then in essence you are in favour of it.

The AAP has a very high number of signatures required. ie; 10% of 53,251 eligible voters, or 5,351. This is hardly fair when you consider that only 18000 people voted in the last Municipal election. 10% of 18000 would require 1800 signatures which would be much fairer, however thats not how it works.

The City by refusing to go to a referendum on borrowing (which they could) force the taxpayers who are opposed to the borrowing to go the AAP route. The AAP is a flawed, and not very democratic process, however it is the only one available.

There is not one person in Prince George, that I am aware of who is responsible to collect signatures, or organize volunteers etc, to get the required number of signatures. In fact as far as I know there a lots of people all over the City trying to do what they can to get petitions signed and returned to City Hall.

Waiting for someone to contact you, or come to your door, might very well cost you the opportunity to sign a form.

I strongly suggest everyone who is opposed to this borrowing to organize thier own groups, and do whatever they can to get the required number of signatures.

This is all about trying to force the City to allow us to vote on big ticket items, rather than always go to the AAP, and it is about stopping borrowing and reducing debt, so that tax dollars can be spent on roads, and infrastructure rather than **pet projects**

The Citys borrowing via the AAP needs to be brought into the public eye. The last three AAP’s (one) on the borrowing of $3.75 Million in 2010 for the River Road Upgrade, garnered 8 signatures. The one for borrowing $3 Million for the new offices on 18th and Ospika I beleive got one (1) signatures. The Community Energy System AAP for $4 Million more or less got very few signatures.

The Police station AAP on the other hand with a little publicity and press was able to generate 1100 signatures. This may not seem like much, but stacked up against the ones where we did nothing its huge.

If we do nothing, taxes go up, bad roads continue, goofy projects get built, they get the elevator and we get the shaft.

Sign the bloody petition, get some signatures and raise hell. Now that the Elector Response Form can be obtained off the Citys website, it is much easier to fill it out and send it in.

Have a nice day.

IN the Citizen March l5th,Bruce Strachan commented about the proposed Coyotes Nightclub. It borders on a residential neighbourhood so it is unacceptable , and closing time is never a pretty sight. I guess some neighbourhoods get listened to and some don’t. People that move to Prince George can’t believe the City moved their Hooker problem into residential areas and continue to do nothing about it like get the Johns, how hard is that? Then there is Needles on Wheels driving around delivering condoms and needles to who knows who. when we complain we are told they need this service. This is not a pretty sight. The seniors living at the new Gateway can look out their windows and see Hookers paceing back and forth, this is not a pretty sight .I challange Bruce to write about my neighbourhood and the challanges we have to face, Like not being able to sell our homes and if we can sell it’s for less than they are worth and all because of the problems the City has sent us.

Tell the bikers to ride safely. Seen a lot of idiots zig zagging through traffic. Riding in t shirts shorts and sandals not to mention those little thin domes on their heads. Bikers before bashing 4 wheelers, police your own. Oh whats will those noisy pipes?

JohnnyBelt: Gotta drive 30kph….can’t go any faster with all the potholes :)
