The government moves on with their agenda. The constitution is the highest law in the land. 3 times the Liberals were caught breaking the law. Nice when you can change the law to suit themselves.
Let’s be clear, the BCTF’s hands aren’t clean in this either. They’ve been pulling this crap for many years now.
Law is law little Johnny. They were told to fix the last law they broke.
“Let’s be clear, the BCTF’s hands aren’t clean in this either. They’ve been pulling this crap for many years now.”
Pulling what crap Johnny? Having a legal contract ripped up and force back to work?
Do you seriously think the BCTF hasn’t pulled crap in various degrees over the past generation? Are you that deluded?
It takes two to tango, and the BCTF has always been a willing partner.
It’s kind of ironic how the government and the school districts are talking about bullying in schools. They then turn around and become the biggest bullies on the block. What a message they send out to the kids.Gotta hand it to the liberals, once again they are showing what a useless government they are.
WOW JohnnyBelt, you must be a politician that does not have any kids.
The government is trying to recruit more future politician so thats is why they are trying to eliminate the education system and create future morons.
buzzinga: “WOW JohnnyBelt, you must be a politician that does not have any kids.”
Wrong on both counts, but nice try.
OK JohnnnyBelt, I have read your rants on here for a few weeks about the BCTF.
Tell me one thing specific the BCTF has done in the past or currently that is unjust or corrupt?
How about claiming that they’re ‘doing it for the kids’ while at the same time using them as pawns and hostages?
How about how they protect members who have alleged histories of child abuse? There have been a few news items over the years about those incidents.
And don’t kid yourself, this isn’t about the current government. This has been going on for a very long time. The BCTF is in it for themselves, not the kids.
Again, I’m surprised that someone with a user name ‘taxed out’ would support the cost that comes by giving wage increases to the teachers.
How do wage increases increase the quality of education? Answer, they don’t.
I must say buzzinga thatr I am with the teachers all of the way. You are right of course thed lieberals are the biggest bullies on the block and they will continue to be until election time and that is when they put on their little miss muffet face.
Your claim of “doing it for the kids” is your opinion.
Give me an example of any other union that fights for conditions for their customers ie: class size and composition. Do airline pilots fight for more comfortable seats in the back of the plane? Do postal workers fight for no potholes on the streets of Prince George for their customers? So JohnnyBelt as unions go they fight for their customers far more than any other. Just give me one example of another union that fights for the customers of the business.
Again in this country you are innocent until proven guilty, your own words are “alleged” histories of child abuse. Give me an example where the BCTF protected a known child abuser.
Wage increases have been happening to the private sactor in the last 10 years of the Liberal government. Just because you are in the public sector does not mean pay raises are evil. In my own profession my wage has increased 54% since 2001 in the private sector non-union, all the while my job duties have remained the same. The BCTF has said the wage increase was to keep pace with the cost of living, you JohnnyBelt are making the claim that it is for something else.
Hey JohnnyBelt
You: How about claiming that they’re ‘doing it for the kids’ while at the same time using them as pawns and hostages?
Answer: So how is …….. wanting smaller classes (more one on one) for students and more help for those with learning problems using students as pawns and hostages????
You: How about how they protect members who have alleged histories of child abuse? There have been a few news items over the years about those incidents.
Answer: Well Johnny boy…. it is the College of Teachers ( an organization created by the current Fiberals) that investigates allegations NOT the BCTF
You: How do wage increases increase the quality of education?
Answer: This is so obvious. If teachers are happy because they can buy food for their families, meet mortgage payments, buy gasoline, heat their homes, put fuel in their cars to get to work, (in case you haven’t noticed these costs have all increased dramatically ) and they have adequate materials to do their job, (textbooks, support staff, up to date training) and have acceptable working conditions ………THEN they will not only be able to do their jobs but will also want to do their jobs.
Speaking as a parent …..I really want them to be happy and do their jobs willingly and with enthusiasm. Is there anything more important than the children who are our future?
Can you BCTF cheerleaders pinpoint the moment when you lost your ability for rational thought? 30 years and counting on this militant teacher BS. Every contract its the same crap and somehow the government is always the bully. The BCTF has negotiating skills similar to a Mexican beach vendor. If their not stirring up s””t, some teachers might wake up and wonder what their dues are for . The rest of us just roll our eyes and wait fot the enevitable back to work legislation.
If teachers want credibilty, they should install intelligent adult negotiators, not these firebrand unionists from another era.
Dow, yuh got me laughing and nodding in full agreement at the same time. Well Said!
How negotiable has the BC Liberals been throughout this process, dow7500?
Of course the BC Liberals are perfect, everything they have touched in the last 11 years has turned to gold. BC Rail, HST, 2.4 Billion dollar deficit that they lied about. You go dow7500 you Christy cheerleader. Come on here when you have something to say.
Johnny Belt, dow7500… I can’t agree with anything that you have posted.
In 1998 teachers signed a 3 year 0-0-0 contract, with class size and composition being the main points they signed for. After Campbell got elected, he “tore up” the contract. The BCTF took his gov’t to court and won…. the courts ruling that what his gov’t did was illegal.
I believe that Bill 22 is the gov’t’s way of sneaking around the court ruling.
Every time the Liberals are down in the polls or need to divert attention from something they’ve done, they create an issue to rile public opinion…. teachers, nurses etc.
The Pattison controlled press certainly helps them and squelches any opposing viewpoints….. just remember what happened to Meisner when he took them rto task on BC Rail.
For the Liberals, a squabble with the BCTF is beyyer than headlines about mills closing and raw logs being shipped to China.

You know that there use to be a system that meant their was never any strikes by the teachers. It was called binding arbitration. If they could not reach a negotiated settlement, the teachers appointed one person and the government appointed one. Then they picked someone, usually some judge that they could both agree with. The government gave their side and the teachers gave their side. The arbitrators then met and made a ruling that was binding.
Sometimes the teachers were happy and some times the government was happy. No work stoppages occurred.
The government got rid of that process and now we are left with the result.
With that system, the BCTF wouldn’t need to be the industry they have become. Let me guess which government brought in this process.
Wow dow7500, you will grasp at anything to cling on to your pathetic bigoted viewpoint.
“bigoted” ???
Yeah the Libs can make any law they want and recind any law they want remember the law they imposed on going over budget?
Bigoted…..dow7500
…a person who is obstnatley or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices…one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance. ( Webster’s)
In this thread alone dow7500…you have stated zero facts in your opinion.
Here are examples of what you have stated…
Comparing BCTF negotiators to Mexican beach vendors..
firebrand unionists from another era..
militant leader BS..
Looks to me like you fit the definition of bigoted, dow7500. All your posts are based in hatred and are backed with your own twisted rational.
I concur and he isn’t alone here.
Taxed out: “Your claim of “doing it for the kids” is your opinion.
Give me an example of any other union that fights for conditions for their customers ie: class size and composition. Do airline pilots fight for more comfortable seats in the back of the plane?”
You made my point for me, thanks. Can we now stop the big lie that the BCTF likes to trot out that they’re in it solely for the kids?
“Wage increases have been happening to the private sactor in the last 10 years of the Liberal government.”
They have? Where? And even if that were the case, that has nothing to do with the government. What was your point again?
Disband the BCTF and let the teachers have the union dues they pay every month as a raise. What are the union dues every month? Multiplied 41,000 times a month it must be a pretty penny.
I told you where JohnnyBelt, in my own personal profession I have gotten a raise in pay throughout the Liberal reign.
Maybe you haven’t recieved any raises JohnnyBelt, in your job because you are not worth it. You JohnnyBelt, are probably one of those employees that if gone missing would have no effect on the operation, kinda useless fluff. Your seem to be the type that because you recieve nothing, you campaign that everyone should suffer the same fate. The kind that because you are useless that everyone else must be as well.
Who said “solely” JohnnyBelt, again you are making stuff up. The BCTF has fought for their customers more than any other union. I asked you to name one union besides the BCTF that can make that claim. Of course you came back with nothing because you have nothing.
Taxed out, you have nothing. Just parroting union swill as if it were gospel. I’m guessing Johnny is more worthwhile to society than a worker bee like you. opps…theirs my bigotry again.
If I am parroting something it is at least stated somewhere, dow7500. Unlike yourself and JohnnyBelt who cannot even make the claim of parroting as your info you have provided is based on nothing.
“Maybe you haven’t recieved any raises JohnnyBelt, in your job because you are not worth it.”
I have received wage increases, because I have performed well in my job and have shown a high degree of accountability and responsibility, thanks for asking.
I consider myself one of the lucky ones. Many people in the private sector haven’t received wage increases because the economy is bad or their business is performing poorly, no matter what their personal performance might be. Some are laid off…
Teachers want raises across the board… good ones, bad ones, it doesn’t matter. There are plenty of teachers (way too many, IMO) just punching a clock, and those are the ones I have issue with.
I would love to see each member of the BCTF accountable for their individual performance in their respective classrooms. Reward the good teachers, and don’t reward the bad ones… simple enough.
So unless it is stated “elsewhere” it has no merrit?? You just reinforce my position. you parrot what is stated elsewhere. Does free thinking and commonsense have no appeal to you?
Not really dow7500, when it is based on prejudice and intolerance, perhaps its of appeal to you at whatever hooded meetings you attend but, it has no place in society.
“hooded meetings”? “bigoted”?
Anyone who doesn’t agree with taxed out is racist now? Well, it makes about as much sense as the rest of what he says, so…
Follow the thread JohnnyBelt, you will find it was dow7500 who started the bigoted comments.
JohnnyBelt, based on your last post its not the BCTF you don’t agree with, it is all unions you have a problem with.
Your “simple enough” philosophy sounds like you want the teachers to be treated like management, performance based, no job security, who you know, favoritism, and everything else that comes at this level in business.
I am sure that would come at great cost to the taxpayer JohnnyBelt. As with the “hazards” of employing this way would be a reward system that would have to compensate. Just like in the business world at the level you wish our teachers to be treated like, it would have to be worth it. Worth it in the form of huge bonuses (like in the business world, based on nothing), huge severance packages, and a compensation package rivaling our MLA’s in Victoria. I really don’t think we could afford a system in which you propose, JohnnyBelt.
Of course if this was such a favorable labour practice it would have been widesprerad throughout the business world long before you dreamed it up for our public sector, JohnnyBelt. Maybe JohnnyBelt before you dream up any other ways to change the labour world a little thought as to how it may play out would help before you talk outloud.
Taxed out, you are the perfect union worker bee. Repeat only what has been spoken. Parrot the thinking of the great “leaders”. Then vilify any opposition as bigots and racists. Sad, but entirely predictable from a worker bee.
Is “worker bee” another group that you are intolerant and prejudice towards, dow7500.
You were the one who in this thread unvieled the fact that you were a racist and a bigot, dow7500. I only called you on it, like any good racist/bigot, you blame others for the truth of you character.
The more you post, the more you make my case.
over and out.
