Huble Homestead Operations Manager, Krystal Leason, has some family heirlooms appraised by Ted Pappas
Prince George, BC – It is a unique and fitting fundraiser for the Huble Homestead, long-time antique appraiser, Ted Pappas, comes out of retirement for one weekend per year to examine hidden treasures that area residents dust off for his visit.
Huble Program Manager, Nicole Krizmanich, says Pappas has been traveling to Prince George from his home in Clinton for the past five years to offer his specialized services. For a $10 fee that goes directly towards supporting the homestead, Pappas will determine whether an item holds a dollar value, or just a sentimental one.

“Ted said that this year, he (saw) so many items of value that he was just blown away,” says Krizmanich. “Every year he just doesn’t know what to expect because just when he thinks he’s seen it all in Prince George, somebody will come in with something else that’s even more amazing – there are still a lot of treasures hidden in people’s basements.”
Pappas also did some home visits during this year’s appraisals and plans are in the works to offer the service again next year. “So that’s always nice,” says Krizmanich. “Because it’s hard for people – especially when they have heavy items like furniture. He can do appraisals off photographs, but it is better for him to see it.”
The historic site will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary of the Huble Home this year. Opening day at the homestead is Saturday, May 19th.
