Town Hall Meeting In Burns Lake Tonight

Burns Lake, B.C.- There will be a special meeting this evening in Burns Lake . It is an “Economic Development Town Hall Meeting.”
The three hour session ( from 7-10 tonight) at the Tweedsmuir Rod and Gun Club is hosted by the Province, the Village of Burns Lake, Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako and Northern Development and it is the latest in the efforts to assist the community in its recovery from January’s devastating loss of the Babine Forest Products Sawmill.
A team from the Economic Development Association of B.C. will be on hand this evening to help shape a short term economic strategy for the region.
As was reported on Friday, there have been several initiatives undertaken already to assist the community. ( click here for previous story).
"We are pleased that all levels of government have come together to respond to the needs of Burns Lake and to move our community forward together” says Burns Lake Mayor Luke Strimbold. “ All of the funding announcements made by MLA Rustad (John) are great news for the community of Burns Lake and we look forward to future announcements and projects that we can collaborate on together."
Bulkley-Nechako Regional District chair Bill Miller echoes those comments “"The response from every level of government has been extremely encouraging. It gives me hope in the future of our community and I’m confident that we can start putting this tragedy behind us."
