Fake Gun Results in Arrest

Thursday, March 29, 2012 @ 12:45 PM
Prince George, B.C.- An imitation gun has landed a young man in Prince George in hot water.

Yesterday afternoon, RCMP in Prince George received calls about a man with a gun in the area of 1st Avenue and Tabor Boulevard.

When officers arrived on scene, the saw a male who matched the description of the suspect, walking with what appeared to be a gun in his hand.

"The police have a duty to protect the public and cannot assume that these types of reports are for imitation guns. We MUST assume these guns are real" says Cpl. Craig Douglass, Media Liaison Officer for the Prince George Detachment. "Persons with imitation firearms could be subject to Criminal Code charges".

The young man was arrested at gunpoint.

The recovered gun turned out to be an imitation pistol style pellet gun that had the orange tip painted over.

The 17 year old was to appear in Provincial Court today.

In the last two weeks, Prince George RCMP have responded to three reports of persons with guns. All three turned out to be imitations.

Apppears in court for what charge? Carrying a fake gun?

Whatever the charge is, it won’t be enough.

The cops unfortunately have to waste a lot of time and resources chasing after these morons…

In the USA he probably would have been shot. Oh but our RCMP are the villians right?

Yes what is the charge?

Criminal Code section which I forget, is about a “firearm or imitation thereof”,
pretty simple, you walk down the street with a handgun, nobody knows if its real or not, and you get arrested for being a dumba##. And of course the parents trot out and blame everyone else, including the police for their childs misfortune, but forget that maybe they should have trained them better. As Bill Cosby said, so long ago, “Children are brain damaged til they leave home” Well for some, the damage continues as we all have seen in all the wannabe gangsters in this and other towns across Canada.

I agree.. If a person is walking down the street with a pellet gun altered to look like a real gun. They are going out just looking for negative attention. Would any normal grown up person actually go out into public with an altered restricted fire arm? Clearly they are looking for no good and should be penalized. Not that I agree with everything the old blue berries and cherrys do, but let’s get serious here!

Altered to look like a restricted fire arm**

Altered to look like a restricted fire arm**

I can remember rifles hanging in the back windows of pickups. Had a twelve gauge when thirteen going goosin. That thing sure taught me to have the butt into the shoulder before pulling the trigger.

I remember years ago taking our pellet or BB guns down to the “flats” We got them there by walking down the road with them over our shoulders. We live in a world of panic nowadays.
