It’s the Day of Pranks

Sunday, April 1, 2012 @ 4:15 AM
Be sure to check the calendar today before getting caught in an April Fool’s day prank.

So how did April Fool’s Day come about?

There are a couple of theories.

One is that when France changed its “legal” year calendar in the 1500’s to match the Roman calendar, news of the change was slow to reach the folks in the rural areas. The uninformed still thought the new year (fiscal year)  started at the end of March, making them “April Fools”.

However,   another   historian suggests the day is simply a reflection of  the number of Spring festivals and celebrations that occurred in Europe.   It was popular to dress up and hide one’s identity for many of those celebrations.

Whatever the origin, there may well be someone who will try to see if you can be “fooled” today. And no, this story is not meant to be a prank.

BREAKING NEWS:
The Prince George Cougars announced today the hiring of Scotty Bowman as a consultant.

Scotty Bowman refuses offer from PG Cougers. Claims he’s never heard of Prince George, or the Cougers. Is this a prank he asked??

Okay…..how about this one.
Shari Green resigns as mayor of P.G. to run as a conservative in the provincial election. Green says her work here is done and she is ready for a bigger challenge.

Was at Costco the other day and my purchase came to 50.01. So with the demise of the penny who is going to get the extra 4 cents when they round it up?

Everyone knows about PG so that above statement is the prank.

NoWay: “Was at Costco the other day and my purchase came to 50.01. So with the demise of the penny who is going to get the extra 4 cents when they round it up?”

Here we go again. They won’t round it up if you pay with your debit card. If you have $50.01 in cash, they won’t round it up either. The penny will always be accepted at retailers. They’re just not making them any more.

Maybe JonnyB but don’t you think the retailers are going to adjust their price so that the .01 never comes up? That way they won’t have to deal with the penny in the till except for taking them.

NoWay………

Are you the last “cash only” person on the planet? The retailers aren’t going to do a damn thing. 99% of the population is paying with debit these days, it won’t be worth the hassle to the retailers to even think about it.
