Camp Fundraiser Exceeds Goal
Prince George, B.C.- The Family YMCA in Prince George had a goal to raise enough money to send 60 children to Camp Kanannaq.
The final results are in, and the Family Y not only reached that goal, but exceeded it!
"Our goal for 2012 was to raise enough funds to send sixty local children to Camp Kanannaq", says Mark Miller, Family YMCA of Prince George CEO. "With the generous support of our members, volunteers and staff we beat that goal by 27 kids – raising just over $15,000. The donation that put our campaign over the top was $5,000 on behalf of the Shooters Group, BX Pub and College Heights Pub."

"We sold approximately 900 orders of nachos over the four weeks as part of the ‘nachos for Strong Kids’ promotion", says Jordy Hoover, President. "While it was a fun way for our staff and customers to support the Family YMCA, on the serious side, we believe that every child should enjoy a traditional summer camp experience, no matter what their financial situation. It was an easy decision to increase our donation."
Camp Kanannaq is located on Nukko Lake and is a youth day camp where kids can actively take part in the rustic outdoors.
