Prince George, B.C.- There are two new Deputy Sheriff’s in Prince George.
The two were among the 23 most recent graduates from their course through the Justice Institute of B.C..
The sheriffs received their badges last week following three months of intensive training, and now they will help ensure safe and efficient courts.
Their main responsibilities include:
* Escorting prisoners between court, correctional centres and police lock-up facilities.
* Courthouse and courtroom security, including the management of courthouse lock-up facilities.
* Jury management
The new graduates bring to 57 the number of new sheriffs to have joined the justice system over the past five months, four of them have been placed in Prince George.

Well, with the FTE spread, and being short staffed for way too long, sounds like two more whole court days a month. Did I get it right, Rob?
Oops, sorry, forgot, don’t think they got the Judges to do it. Aw heck, throw a robe on a veteran sheriff, good neutral trier of fact.
Bigger stick and more jails. Its bound to solve our crime rate. if we try harder maybe Pg will no longer be the crime capital of Canada.
Cheers
They need them to escort those bad girls to Burnaby . Why not have a court room at the Hilton on the Hill…would make things a little more efficient! Or is that too far for a lawyer to travel?
